The Home of Happy Memories

The space

First of all north-western Canada is unique because there is so much clean, fresh air and wide open places. We are located on an acreage where there is lots 'of prettiness' both inside and out of the house. If you like to hunt with a camera or otherwise, opportunities abound. We saw a buck and a doe just yesterday. Ours is like an old fashioned farm where there are a variety of chickens, plus two cats and a dog. Children are most welcome and may even get a chance to go for a ride in a cart behind a tractor!

Swimming, fishing, canoeing (we'll rent out ours) market gardening, shopping, visiting a Mennonite community, tell me what you're looking for. Let us know if you need to be brought anywhere.

We want to make you feel welcome, and would enjoy getting to know you, but want to be sensitive to your own desires,

It's clean, beautiful and peaceful with an opportunity to meet wonderful people.

Let us know your needs, and we'll see what we can do. We can provide extra foam mattresses for children.

Let us know if you want to bring a pet, or if you have special dietary needs.

Guest access

Private room. I'll graciously provide the meals.

Interaction with guests

It's up to them: we'll be as friendly and sociable as they want us to be. If they want their space, that's fine, too.

Other things to note

Come as you are, and make yourself at home. Please keep in touch as you travel so we won't worry about you. (Remember I'm the grandma type.) : )
Our house number is 26346. It is on the sign by the road. We are half way down a gravel road (712) and there are lots of tall spruce on our yard. It is a white house.

Warm, hospitable, devout couple that really welcome you into their home. If you are willing to make a short jaunt into the country and get a hint of some of the Pioneer spirit of Canada, this is one of your stops. Mister (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) took us to their Friesen neighbors a mile down the road, who pointed us to the right Friesens! All part of the adventure. Hopefully the GPS setting can be corrected.

Very welcoming. Marilyn made wonderful breakfast. Look forward in keeping in touch with her for touristy things to do in the area.

Marilyn and Stephen truly welcomed us into their home. They were incredibly kind, friendly, and accommodating. The mattresses were incredibly comfortable (I slept so well!), and getting a home-cooked breakfast before we left in the morning was very good. They were great conversationalists, and they also gave us a tour of their property. You can see the pride and love they have for their home. I would highly recommend Hollyhock Haven and am trying to find excuses to head back to the area and visit again.

We had a really good stay. Stephen and Marylin were wonderful hosts and very accommodating. We even had a dog with us and that was no problem. Thank you for everything. We really enjoyed it.

I stayed at Marilyn and Stephen Friesen for 2 days during May 2017. I was welcomed with a warm hospitality and care.   They went out of their way to make sure I have everything I needed !  We had long conversations about religion , faith , the Mennonite order ,Judaism  and Christianity. Although I am not religious - this was an Eye-opener Experience for me, I learnt a lot during my stay there. Also, Marilyn  is a great cook and I was spoiled with a delicious breakfast and dinner. The ranch is peaceful and tranquil - I slept great there. It was easy to make contact with the Friesens to get directions and guidelines of getting to their place. All this package comes with adorable cat and dog which were full of love and curiosity. If you are an open minded and curious person -  I think visiting there is very rewarding! I highly recommend it.

Stephen and Marilyn are warm generous folks who made us feel very welcome. Upon our request they also provided us with dinner and a tasty breakfast. It is a great place to stop if you are traveling the Hwy 43 route.
