Response from Doris:
WARNING for any host concerning this guest: Bernard's review is a rather pathetic case of sour grapes: He is clearly upset that he was charged for the damages he caused. He managed to break the very sturdy pole that is used to open the Velux windows. Any half-decent guest would have informed their host of the damage caused. And any respectful guest would have cleared up their mess. In my several years as an Airbnb host, I have almost always had five-star reviews and very satisfied guests, who have loved the apartment, its location (the keys were left in one of the most known Viennese cafés very close to the apt), the historic building stock with its high ceilings even at the 4th / last floor (is Bernard so ethnocentric that he doesn't realize that the ground floor in North America counts as a first floor?) and, of course, the apt is up to all safety standards in Austria/European Union. My guests generally appreciate very much the welcome, travel directions and tips I give them. Anyone interested in renting this apartment should just take a look at other reviews. Bernard is unfamiliar with Airbnb and expects hotel treatment. His communication was perfunctory at all times. He claims that there was no wifi but there are two high speed networks in the apt! It looks very much as if he is going for Airbnb, expecting hotel services, because he's trying to get accommodation on the cheap, not because he is into the spirit of Airbnb. But all he needed to do was open his eyes and he would have seen that there was coffee, tea in the kitchen and shampoo and soap in the bath room. I'm afraid I really cannot recommend Bernard !
