Cozy living room with wood fireplace, TV & pull out couch. Enjoy beautiful views of the lake from the large deck or sit around the fire pit & enjoy breath-taking sunsets. The space
June 5th to Sept 11 Saturday to Saturday 7-day bookings only.

Less than 30min from Peterborough and only two hours from Toronto, our cottage is south facing, located in a quiet bay, sheltered from boat traffic on Lower Buckhorn Lake. Watch herons, otters and other wildlife off the dock as you sip your morning coffee or paddle to nearby Wolf Island Provincial Park for views of granite shores and the nature that surrounds. The sandy shoreline is perfect for young children; it is wade-in and very gradually sloped. Depending on the time of year the water can be weedy in parts of the bay however there is good swimming at the small beach area and off the island right out front.

If you have a boat or are planning to rent one, you can moor it at the dock. There are several boat launches nearby - ask for details if you are anticipating using one. Feel free to use aluminium boat, kayaks or the canoe provided.

Walk out from the living room to the large deck where you can enjoy relaxing in the hammock. The entire outside area is flat, with lots of space for activities - a variety of outdoor games are provided. Wood for the sauna, fireplace or fire pit may be purchased at the Foodland or Home Hardware in Buckhorn (do NOT take wood from the surrounding bush, if trees are damaged you will forfeit your security deposit).

Kitchen is fully equipped with: microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils, fridge, and stove.

Though the water is UV filtered from the spring fed well we use a jug for drinking water - one full jug will be provided. If you need additional water there is a refill station at the Home Hardware in Buckhorn.

Leave the cottage in the condition you found it, dispose of all garbage and recycling (instructions and card for disposal at the local dump is provided). Ensure you remove all food from the fridge. If the cottage has been left a mess you will forgo your security deposit and pay an additional cleaning fee.

The cottage is located on a quiet road with excellent privacy. This is our home in the winter so we ask everyone to please respect our neighbours and the cottage rules. The town of Buckhorn is only a 5min drive and offers a grocery store, hardware store, LCBO, bait shop and pharmacy. Stop in at the Gallery on the Lake to see some works from Canada’s leading and emerging artists. For those nights where you don't want to cook dinner, the town has many patio dining options or order from Pizza Alloro in town.

If you want to venture out a little further Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park is a 5 min drive, Petroglyphs Provincial Park and Warsaw Caves Conservation Area (both about ~30min drive) offer lots of trails to explore.
