Entire home
You’ll have the townhouse to yourself.
A cosy house in a characteristic Italian hamlet.
This charming and very private house will surely allow for a wonderful relaxing holiday. Located on top of a green hill where Tuscany and Lazio meet, the house is situated in the lovely old town of Grotte di Castro. Not far away, Lake Bolsena, with its sandy beaches and crystal clear water is only a ten minute drive.

The space
The house, around 65 square metres, is divided over three floors and is ideal for 2 persons. A sofa bed is available and suitable for 1 person.
- Main entrance: Living room with satellite television, wood stove and sofa bed. A balcony with breathtaking view of Lake Bolsena and the surrounding hills.
-Upstairs: Master bedroom with a double bed (mattress 1.60 x 1.90m). A newly build, small bathroom with (rain)shower, toilet and basin. This room also has a new window and a new roof, with the wooden beams visible (I will upload new foto's of the bedroom as the renovation has been completed, I hope in March). The window offers a great view of Lake Bolsena and the countryside also.
-Downstairs: Kitchen equipped with microwave, 4 gas burner hob, toaster and kettle. Bathroom with toilet, basin, bidet and shower with showercurtain. Pellet stove for heating.

Guest access
Guests have the whole house to themselves.

Other things to note
There are two open staircases in the house, caution to those with small children.

There is no washing machine, but is is possible to wash some clothes by hand and there is a laundrette in Bolsena.

FOR GROUPS: 'Maison Veronique' of my Belgian neighbour is less than a 100 metres away. Together we can accomodate up to 7 guests.

Location

Grotte di Castro, Lazio, Italy

The house is situated on the very quiet south side of 16th century Grotte di Castro. In the evening you can enjoy a sky full of stars and in the morning the singing of birds. All but two hundred metres away is the centre of the town, with its lively cafès, grocery shops and a few 100% Italian trattoria’s. Grotte di Castro is a well kept secret and is not overrun by foreign tourists and thus has very much preserved its authentic character and atmosphere.
The town of Bolsena is only a fifteen minute drive by car. Bolsena is a exquisite medieval town, with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants with fish specialities. It is situated right on the shore of the lake, which is excellent for a refreshing swim. On this big lake there are many beaches and places where you can hire surfboards and canoes, as well as small sailing boats and motorboats.
The beautiful beaches of southern Tuscany are less than an hour’s drive away. More locally, you can visit the magnificent city of Orvieto, take a stroll in picturesque Tuscan towns like Pitigliano and Sorano, treat yourself to a hot thermal bath in Saturnia, dive into the history of the Etruscans at Tarquinia or drink a glass of local wine in quaint Capodimonte and Montefiascone. In the evening, dine right on the shores of the lake.

This part of Italy is lovely in spring and autum too - very nice and quiet. Excellent for long walks and cycling. The house is comfortably heated by a pellet stove in the kitchen downstairs and a romantic wood stove in the livingroom.

Siena and Rome are both two hours away by car.
