The Engine House is the perfect base for a romantic break, or an active holiday walking or cycling, set at the foot of Bredon Hill on the Glos/Worcs border. It's a private, self-contained annex detached from the main house, with own parking and garden area.

Step out of the door, and it's easy access straight onto the hill, to enjoy spectacular views. Or hop in the car to explore Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswolds. For relaxing in the evening, just stroll next door to the Yew Tree Inn.

The space
The accommodation is south-facing with well equipped kitchen with washing machine, wet room with shower and WC, and open living area with french doors opening to a gravelled area with garden furniture, great for relaxing with a morning cuppa or refreshing drink. The double bed is on a mezzanine reached via a sturdy ladder and the sofa converts to another bed if required. Underfloor heating maintains a stable temperature. Free WiFi.

From the Engine House, it's easy access straight onto the many footpaths criss-crossing the southern slopes of Bredon Hill, where you can enjoy spectacular views over the Vale of Evesham. Head higher and enjoy walks along the top of the hill, with uninterrupted views to the Malverns and away over Worcestershire. The riverside town of Tewkesbury, with its Tudor buildings and spectacular Abbey, is a 20 minutes drive through the villages around Bredon Hill. And you can visit the many picturesque Cotswold villages in the area including Winchcombe, Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. The Regency town of Cheltenham (20 minutes drive south) offers great shopping, restaurants and bars, theatre and entertainment, including the renowned literature, music, jazz and science festivals.

For horse racing fans, the Engine House is perfectly placed to enjoy a day (or two) at Cheltenham Racecourse, the home of National Hunt racing and a 15 minute drive . Motor racing enthusiasts can enjoy the classic car racing at Prescott Hill Climb 8 miles away.

And if you don't fancy cooking for yourself, just stroll next door to the Yew Tree Inn, the village's welcoming pub which serves great food.
