We are very proud of our location, in the center of Reykjavik city, in few minutes walking distance to all major tourist attractions, museums and most popular restaurants – but still in a quiet residential area.

House Rules

We kindly ask our guests to please:
- Always walk quietly through stairways and out-door.
- Keep silence at evenings and nights.
- Keep at least one window slightly open, day and night. (If you are cold, just turn up the heaters! There is no need to economize energy in Iceland - it is 100% clean and ecological.)
- When taking shower, using the curtains to avoid water going on the floor.
- At check-out, leave the keys on the table and door open.

Smoking is strictly forbidden in the house. In our back-yard there is a table and chairs where people can smoke without risking that the smoke disturbs other guests.

Highly recommend and hope to come back soon. The room had everything we needed for our 24hrs in Reykjavik. It was awesome having our own kitchenette and being able to make breakfast in the morning with basic food supplies, coffee, etc provided. The bed was super comfy! Location i…

Gunnar was quick and easy to communicate with and the room was as expected. The location is only a couple minutes walk to the main square and is a great launching poiny for exploring Reykjavik.

The room was small but had a private bathroom and kitchen. It was very conveniently located, close to the downtown shops. The room was clean. Gunnar allowed us to keep our luggage in the building for a couple of hours after we checked out, which was super helpful to us.

The apartment was great. Had all we needed for a good price. It was not at all like a suite in a private home, as there are about 30 units like this in the 2 buildings - so more like a hotel without a front desk. It felt safe, as Iceland is a pretty safe place, but the buildin…

Response from Gunnar:
I am not used to response to reviews. I am very thankful for good reviews but even more thankful for bad reviews because they help us to improve. An unfair review is another thing. And this is a very unfair review from Sharron. First of all: Her claim about 30 units describes maybe the type of person. It is far from the truth. We have 7 studio-apartments under our guesthouse business - 5 of them listed here at Airbnb. We announce ourselfs clearly as a guesthouse, not as a private home nor a hotel with reception. Secondly: We lay all importance on that our apartments are perfectly cleaned after every guest - and an overall "Christmas-cleaning" is made once in a month. When I am not at home myself to clean, I have two efficient girls working for me - and I have never before had a complain that they would not do their work perfectly. I refer to other reviews for all the studios listed here at Airbnb. Thirdly: It is also wrong, that the house is in general left unlocked. But it was so in this case - and there is a simple reason for it: Sharron arrived very early in the morning. In all guesthouses (just like in hotels), check-in time is at 14.00. But to allow her to enter the house so early in the morning - me not at home and my assistants at school - the outdoor was left unlocked. It was a favor to the woman. Finally: About the shower. Our bathrooms are indeed very small. When designing the studios in this old building, we decided to have a small private bathroom inside every studio rather than having common bathrooms. For people in overweight the curtains might king (I am not saying that Sharron is, I never met her) - but normally this should not make any bigger problem. Furthermore, there is a photo of each bathroom in each studio, so it should be clear to guests in advance what they are paying for. There came indeed up a problem when Sharron arrived. Something I am not going to tell about here - something totally exceptional. I guess that it is the reason for that Sharron is - as I feel - so unfair. Our aim is to offer well located, clean and comfortable studio-apartments for low price. If Sharron ever comes to Reykjavik again she can of course find a hotelroom in this area with big bathroom, more luxury and a reception (and check-in at 14.00) - but for more than double the price. She is still welcome to our guesthouse again whenever - if she likes. Best wishes to you, Sharron.
