Brekka is a terribly old house with rattling windows, which we try to make a paradise for artists, nature lovers and other crazy people (like us).
The house is idyllic situated in the bottom of Gilsfjörður, next to two old barns full of broken cars and other trash. Getting here is a detour of about 2x15km from road 60, the main road crossing the West Fjords. The bumpiness of the road makes it a challenging drive, 4WD is necessary October-May and recommended in summer.

The views are amazing.

The space
It's renovated but still an old house, so don't expect big luxury!

You can rent the whole house if you make a reservation on our other listing 'Peaceful, charming house in an inspiring fjord', or you can book more rooms by just adding more people to your booking. If you do so: always contact me after booking.

We have only one shower but two toilets in the house.
During October-April, there is a big chance you'll be alone in the house but it's even possible in summer.

The road to the house is quite bumpy but all of this contributes to its charm. The road might be closed during snowstorms but we might be able to open it up for you too. You will definitively need a 4x4 in October-April

Please note: we believe in sustainable tourism. Don't leave any traces to nature and sort your trash.

Guest access
Please enter through the back door, it will be unlocked. Take off your shoes and keep the door well-closed.

Other things to note
Don't trust the map, Brekka is here: 65°27'35.7"N 21°40'48.0"W

In the closet of the double room, we store all the stuff for making up the bed + towels. You can chose what you want and make up your bed by yourself - other guests might ask you if they can come and pick some sheets from your closet.
After your stay, please clean the room and the areas you were using with the vacuum cleaner and water if needed, put all of the bed linen and the towels you used in the washing machine and communicate to us how full the washing machine is.

We don't want to make our listing more expensive than necessary. Therefore, we ask you to vacuum clean the room and the kitchen after your stay, and might ask you to make up your own beds and put your own sheets in the washing machine. Bringing your own sheets is a plus as ours are rather old.

This listing is driven by Beggi the multitalented sheep farmer and some volunteers. We're doing our best but we're not perfect =)
We can guarantee you that the money you spend with us will be used for contributing to the most authentic Icelandic farming and for feeding international volunteers.
