'Casa de Cima' is a traditional cottage with a garden to relax in, set in authentic Algarve countryside. Surrounded by citrus groves, within cycling distance of beautiful Barril Beach. The gorgeous beach at Cacela Velha is only a 15 minute drive away. The cultured and unspoiled town Tavira is a 10 minute drive. Pretty hill walks on the doorstep. The lovely Isle of Tavira, a jewel of the Ria Formosa, is a boat trip away. Eat fresh fish from the market fried in our outdoor kitchen! Parking & Wifi

Where you’ll be

Tavira, Faro District, Portugal

Monte Agudo is a very pleasant corner of the Eastern Algarve hills. The location is perfect as a base for exploring the coastal towns and fantastic landscape of the Ria Formosa. The area is very rich in bird life - spoonbills and flamingoes being a common sight on the salt flats, and flocks of goldfinches in the gardens. The cottage is semi detached with a lovely neighbour, Mrs Fernandez who is happy to chat (if you have Portuguese). She has a tiny dog who lives in her courtyard and may pass by the front door. There is a very private garden for you to enjoy with plenty of shade for the summer months. There is a very traditional farm at the end of the lane and there are several villas dotted over the hillside. The lanes lead through the hills to the much wilder countryside beyond to the North. The beaches are 7 kilometres across the flat fields beyond the attractive village Santa Estavao to the South. This larger village has a small supermarket, chemist and a farm shop which has a mix of local produce and crafts. The lovely beaches to the South are easily reached by car from the cottage. Tavira is a very attractive town, with many fantastic restaurants - particularly seafood.
