Ash Mill, England, United Kingdom

Exmoor National Park is only a short drive away. Enjoy a walk, run or cycle ride (and lock your bike away in our secure bike store at the end of the day) through one of the most stunning parts of the English countryside. Discover the Tarr Steps, an ancient clapper bridge over the River Barle, dating back to 1,000 BC or walk the five mile loop around Lorna Doone Valley, finishing up with a traditional cream tea at Lorna Doone Farm itself. Visit some of the prettiest villages in England like Parracombe or Winsford; ride the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway, the world’s highest and steepest totally water powered railway; explore the motte and bailey Dunster Castle, Exmoor Zoo or take the plunge at Splash Waterworld; or head out after sunset to Wimbleball Lake for an evening’s unrivalled stargazing in Europe’s first dark sky reserve (*red light torches available on request)
Pop into nearby South Molton for a selection of quirky shops, pubs, restaurants, the Quince Honey Farm and a twice-weekly pannier market. Explore bustling Barnstaple, only a 25 minute drive away; or book a table at the Michelin-starred Mason’s Arms, just 8 minutes down the road.
Spend the day at the beach, enjoying the magnificent stretches of golden sand, secret beaches and secluded coves that characterise the North Devon coastline, whether you’re kite surfing on Westward Ho!, renting a beach hut off the dunes at Saunton Sands; scrambling down the rope access to Wild Pear Beach, or ending a day’s rock pooling with a curry at the Sri Lankan Beach Shack on Barricane Beach.
North Devon has a lot to offer visitors of any age.
