We offer spacious, clean, accommodation, in the best location anywhere in the City. All bedrooms are clean, light, bright, warm and comfy with double beds draped in crisp, white, professionally laundered hotel linen. "Because - you're worth it !"
We accommodate contractors, families, friends, film stars, royals and (well behaved) reprobates attending university graduations, reunions, weddings, group getaways, sports events. We do accept same sex groups subject to agreeing to our house rules (our places are nice so have fun but be respectful).
The flat is great for socialising in groups with a massive open plan Lounge, Dining Area, Kitchen and breakfast bar.

Our parking round the back of the building is free first come first served. There's usually always space but in the unlikely event there is no space then there maybe free parking on the street or a nearby paid car park. We can send you more details on this.

☆ Is it easy to get to?
This is why we love it. You're going to pull off the motorway one junction before the end, completely avoiding the mad City Centre traffic, you enter a roundabout, drive down a back road and 3 turning's later you are here! Arrive stress free ! Just follow your Sat Nav or Gooogle Maps and it will take you this easy route in minutes.
☆ Is it a nice area ?
It's gert lush. Portland Square is a most beautiful, Georgian square with well kept central gardens. The square is said to be the most intact Georgian square in England. Across the square is a popular wine bar and also another pub both serving good food. Presiding over the square is the famous “wedding cake style church” (St. Peter & Paul Church) but please don't be tempted to pop over to repent your sins. It is no longer an operational church but a trendy media cafe and circus training school. It’s a wonderful vibrant area with a mix of students, affluent retirees who have acquired some of the other quality apartments in the square and want City living without too much noise.
☆ Is it a good building ?
This is a lovely, quiet flat located in a small block. It is not the usual modern little box with tiny rooms, it is unusually spacious for a city centre apartment with high ceilings and thanks to the 50's conversion it has huge windows all down one side. A lot of City Centre flats are usually quite cramped especially when the owner has squeezed in extra bedrooms leading to pokey 'kitchenettes' and no dining area. Not us, we're in it for the ego not the money. We were lucky with the building, it has impressively high ceilings and good social areas. If you like big, bright and airy then you'll love it.
History: Our building Portland Gate is a splendid Grade 1 Listed Georgian townhouse which was awarded the coveted Blue Plaque. It was bombed (by the Germans not guests), partially rebuilt and extended at the back giving us Huge Glass windows all down one side making it bright and airy. It presides over Portland Square, a magnificent Georgian Square built by the tobacco tycoons and wealthy Wills family for their relatives because that's how nice people were back then !
☆ Access - This is a first floor flat with two flights of stairs up from the street. All of the flat is on the same floor. There is no lift in the building.
☆ Is it Safe ? There is no cladding on the building plus it has the most up to date Central Fire alarm and early warning smoke detection system plus we only let nice people in.
☆ Are you a good host ?
Of course ! We are amazing and super modest too ! We are small but professional and that’s the difference. We manage all our properties ourselves, we’ve tried management agents and found that when you have a middle man then things slow down and don’t get done as good as we'd like. We have a small, dedicated, caring team, most of them sane and with their own teeth. Our guests benefit from fast, friendly service and solutions to any problems plus a generous dose of help and humour. We're here if you want us but hopefully with self check-in/out and the fact that we have thought of everything then you'll never see any us !
☆ Are you really that clever ?
Yes.
☆ Take a break from recycling ! - This is all done for you. Just throw all your rubbish in one big wheelie bin in the car park. It is taken to a private recycling centre and recycled for you.
☆ We're are a big group and worried about damages ?
So are we ! Look, we have been doing this for donkey's years so the interior has been continually modified for maximum look and minimal maintenance and potential damage. There are no expensive tiles to crack, furniture is dark, easy to replace flat pack. There is little in the way of soft furnishing which can easily be marked or stained for example the sofas are leather, chairs very durable and wipe cleanable. Light beige carpets are popular but a nightmare to protect, therefore all the carpets are dark, short pile, stain resistant and of commercial quality so they can even be cleaned with bleach. There are no expensive wallpapers to damage, it is paint throughout which means we can touch up and match the colour (white) very quickly and inexpensively. Exterior quality paint has been used and the walls so most of the time they can easily be wiped down. This is not an invitation for a food fight or red wine festival ! We know accidents happen but please respect the house. What we are saying is that unlike other houses with expensive wallpaper, light carpets and fancy curtains you have a little more piece of mind.
☆ Explain the Other Facilities
The apartment's snooker room, heated swimming pool, full size gym and sauna are very popular with our guests. Oh come on! We are joking! There is a sauna and swimming pool nearby though. A (private) communal Launderette with industrial washer and drying machines available and shared by just seven flats and is located on the ground floor, it is operated with one pound coins.
Ok, that's everything we hope. I think we have thought of everything but no one's perfect (except our parents), therefore if you think of something then let us know, we are always improving.
Relax, bond, recharge and find your old self again ! We'd love to hear how your stay went (but spare us the details of what happened after midnight).

☆ How easy is Checkin / Checkout ?
It's so easy, you don't do it ! Access to the property via Key Code which is sent to you once you have full paid Airbnb (we're ... not ... stupid !) This means no waiting for keys, no losing keys, no hanging around for keys. The best thing is all your group can come and go whenever they please without messing around looking for keys. Just input the door numbers in a mobile phone contact under something like "Fabulous Flat or Gorgeous Host". Just turn up and leave when you want (within the checkin / checkout times of course - let's not be silly).
