White Pines Cabin is just a few level steps from the sandy shore of Whitefish Lake, on the peaceful end of the 28-lake Three Lakes Chain. Nestled within a national forest, this family-friendly cabin is perfect for swimming, fishing, canoeing, and boating, and your stay includes seven small boats. Dine on the deck, play foosball, roast s’mores, or stargaze…just relax at the lake!

Enjoy stunning Fall colors from mid-September to early October!

The space
OUTDOORS
The level lake approach and sandy zero-depth entry makes it easy to keep an eye on the water when you can’t be in there yourself. Off the private pier, you can dock your boat, or use one of ours! You’ll love exploring Whitefish Lake and the surrounding lakes by boat in the two adult kayaks, two children’s kayaks, canoe, pedal boat, or aluminum rowboat. Fishing is good from the dock or further out. Kids will love splashing in the shallow waters, jumping off the pier, or playing on the giant float mat. Life jackets in all sizes are provided.

After a full day of fun on the water, grill up dinner and enjoy a relaxing meal on the patio, followed by s’mores around a campfire. We’ll provide the s’mores kit & extra-long roasting forks! Bring your binoculars for wildlife watching or telescope for stargazing. After dark, turn off the porch lights to experience serenity in the darkness and marvel at the thousands of stars that seem to appear out of nowhere.

Whitefish Lake is a 200-acre all-sport Class A Musky Lake with an enviably quiet location near the end of the Chain of Lakes. It has the thrill of being part of a large lake chain (cruising multiple lakes without relaunching your boat!) without all the boat traffic and frequent wake. The quiet waters are beneficial to small children and fishermen alike. If you’re bringing a fishing boat, it’s easy to drop it into Whitefish using the launch a half-mile away and park it on the pier; we’ll offer specific details and advice on fueling, fishing, and cruising the chain. If you’d like to bring a larger boat, please send a note first.

INDOORS

Heading inside, you’ll find cabin interior equally welcoming. Which kid will find the foosball table first?! White Pines is cozy, clean, and cool (central A/C!), featuring three bedrooms with fresh linens, a full bathroom, and comfortable living room with wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen is simple but fully-equipped with all you’ll need for family meals, including a crockpot, pancake griddle, Keurig with K-cups, and a baking essentials & spice cabinet. There are practical touches like a tiled “mudroom” corner for beach gear, kid-friendly kitchenware, baby items (pack n play, highchair, booster, nightlights), and a full-sized washer/dryer. Bath & beach towels too! Should you experience the occasional rainy day, you’ll stay occupied with foosball, card & board games, books, Legos, puzzles for all ages, or a family movie night. Keep your packing to a minimum and enjoy all that White Pines Cabin & the Northwoods offers!

OUT & ABOUT

In Three Lakes, many Northwoods adventures lie at your doorstep. Numerous walking trails and forest hikes are waiting to be explored! Big Stone Golf Course is two miles away, as is the Aqua Devils youth ski show. In Three Lakes itself, a locally-famous ice cream & sweet shop beckons all ages; the town also hosts a genuinely interesting historical museum, quaint gift shops, a wonderful bakery & local coffee shop. If you time your summer visit right, the local U-pick strawberries (or blueberries) might be deliciously ripe for the picking! Cycling enthusiasts can rent bikes to enjoy the Three Lakes Bike Trail that winds its way through the scenic Northwoods. Twenty-five minutes away, Eagle River offers bowling, mini-golf, a movie theater, children’s museum and more. Further afield lies the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the Iron Mountain Iron Mine , offering fascinating tours of the historic underground mine as well as a gemstone-filled gift shop.

To help you plan & prepare for your vacation, we’ll send the White Pines Cabin Guidebook PDF after booking. The Guidebook offers shopping tips, favorites, and suggested hikes & activities.

p.s. Check your calendar for later this year and consider a return for the truly stunning fall colors of mid-late September and the world-class snowmobiling in January & February.

Hi! I’m Heidi — we welcome you “up North” to Whitefish Lake in the lovely town of Three Lakes, WI. My husband and I, along with five school-aged children, especially enjoy summers in Three Lakes and are excited to share our passion for the Northwoods with you. Many of our favorite travel memories include the unique homes we've stayed in. It's been a delight to plan & refurbish White Pines to become a place we hope families love -- where it's easy to visit and relaxing to stay. We hope to provide guests with all you need for a comfortable vacation -- so in addition to remembering your clothes & swimgear, you're not also packing a heap of beach towels, life jackets, garbage bags, foil, nightlights, toilet paper, or even firewood! We've tried to foresee the needs of our guests yet are available if additional needs arise. Three Lakes is unique to the Northwoods of Wisconsin with its upscale-small town atmosphere where the pace is more relaxed than more commercialized neighboring Eagle River. It's a traditional community where the vast majority of homes are owner-occupied and generations of families vacation return year after year. We hope you come to love the area as well and return again & again. In addition to amazing summers on the lake, the fall colors are *incredible* (a whole tourism industry has been made from Wisconsin's fall colors!) and the 500+ miles of snowmobile trails are world-class. Three Lakes is rightfully proud of being part of the 'largest chain of freshwater lakes in the world' ... it is pretty fun to cruise multiple lakes without relaunching your boat. White Pines is on the quiet end of the chain, so we don't see a lot of busy boat traffic. The occasional visitors are usually fishermen! Being west-facing, we also have incredible sunsets and the water views are definitely awesome.
