Six bedroom (plus den and large loft), four bedroom modern home, sleeps up to 18. In the woods 1/2 way between the beautiful, cool mountain towns of Highlands and Cashiers, NC. Great views and hiking trails at your front door. Minimum stay is 3 days.

The space

This home was built for large family reunions. The open floor plan makes socializing and "Catching-Up" easy. This is the entire house - you will have the place to yourself. We give you a combination to the front door.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire house. This is a Vacation Rental - the owner is a phone call away - not on site.

For our low-mobility guests: One bedroom is on the main level, so no stairs are needed to join in all the fun of the kitchen, living room, family room, indoor screened room, outdoor deck, charcoal grille, etc.

Interaction with guests

We love to give guests a list of things to do and places to go and make sure they have a wonderful stay. Most contact is thru e-mail and phone.

Other things to note

Many wedding parties stay here - seems Highlands and Cashiers are very popular places to get married!

Very remote. No cell tower and DSL wi-fi is less consistent. If you want a break from modern technology and have kids enjoy the nature, this is one of the locations. However be cautious about the ill-behaved, rude and unsocial neighbor who cannot bear the chirping sound of cars locking and unlocking (guess the expectation is more advanced technology of silenced electronic locks ). Bring lots and lots of bottled water if you are not a risk taker of drinking tap water in unknown location. Reach there before sunset else it’s scary to drive at 45 degree angle on unpaved extremely narrow gravels. If you are fond of hiking, there are lots of places once u get down to the main road. Do not try hiking on the trails surrounding the house unless u want to confront couples with angry dogs. The kitchen has all the utensils u want though the refrigerator does not dispense water. The bonfire location is nice with hammock and kids play-area though we could not make much use of it due to freezing cold. Highlands downtown, whitewater falls are very nearby and should go there.

This house has Amazing views! It is definitely secluded and a little far from town but worth the drive. We enjoyed our stay using the fire pit at night to roast marshmallows. Loved how many beds it has in the house.

Craig: Very organized. Sent us super useful planning documentation early on. (Including a room / sleeping chart that helped us plan). You need to take some confusing, winding roads to get there. Craig gave clear directions that included exact distances, so navigation with odometer is easy. The Lodge: Excellent spacious space. Plenty of parking, and well supplied. Nice hiking trail nearby. Lots of well thought out touches: fans on the covered porch, a built in sunroom, labels on the light switches, garbage disposal.

Craig was a wonderful host! He has put a TON of information together to ensure guests can enjoy all the area has to offer and sends this as soon as you book so you can begin planning your trip. He also called me a few days in advance of the trip just to let me know everything was in order and he was excited to have our group. Being a cabin in the country, the house is on a dirt road, and unfortunately, the day before we arrived, there were bad storms which made the road a bit slippery. I was the first to arrive in our group and called Craig - he had someone come over right away to repair the road and ensure that the rest of our group could get through the road easily! He called to check in and make sure everything was ok - this was much appreciated for our group of ladies! This cabin is a perfect place for a relaxing time away with a large group. There are tons of beds and bedrooms and with twelve women, we had no problem having enough bathrooms, etc. for showers and such. There is also a good amount of common space for meals, etc. In addition, the views are stunning, and there are plenty of different areas from which to enjoy them. It was quite cold during our visit, but I would have loved to spend more time in the various outdoor areas on the property. If you are looking to be right in the middle of downtown Highlands (or Cashiers), you should know that it's definitely a solid 20-minute drive to town - maybe more if you are a cautious driver on windy roads! But, the short drive was well worth it to get to enjoy quality time together with our group in the mountains!

We had a great weekend at Craig's home. Our group consisted of 14 adults and there was plenty of room for everyone. It was extremely clean and perfectly described. A few friends arrived after dark and his written directions helped them arrive safely, even with the dark and windy mountain roads. The large table was great for playing cards with our large group. We can't wait to return next year. Thank you!

Craig did everything possible to make sure our arrival and stay was as seamless as it could be. The home is perfect for a large group of friends/family members to all stay in one place, yet also have their own privacy. I highly recommend this place to anyone that thinks this may be an ideal setup for their group.

Craig's house was the perfect place for our family getaway. The fire pit and playground area are so much fun, and the views are beautiful from the porch. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will be renting again.

I built this lodge as a second home for my own use and family reunions, and still spend time there myself. It is very energy efficient and well insulated, and is available year-round. I have put together an extensive list of "Things To Do & Places To Go", so you'll see the area l…
