New for Spring, Town End Barn is a spacious self-contained apartment in the picturesque village of Orton. Situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Lake District National park is also on the doorstep. It has a private entrance, sunny garden, underfloor heating and a well equipped kitchen. The bathroom has a bath/shower and the bedroom a king size bed. A large sofa bed in the living room can be used for extra guests. The village has a shop, pub, cafe and even a chocolate factory!

The space
Town End Barn is the perfect place to relax and explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales, Howgill Fells and Lake District National Park. The nearby towns of Kendal, Sedburgh, Appleby and Penrith offer many attractions whilst Orton, once described by Wainright as one of Westmorland’s loveliest villages, is on the Coast to Coast route and has many walks and cycle routes from the door. The village also hosts a local farmers market every second Saturday of the month.

Overview
Town End Barn has been luxuriously renovated. Underfloor heating keeps this generous space cosy in all seasons. The bright open plan living area comes with large flat screen smart TV, fibre-optic broadband, piano and fully fitted kitchen. High ceilings and original exposed beams give plenty of character. French doors open onto a private, sunny garden with table and chairs. A separate double bedroom has a king size bed and a dressing table that doubles as a comfortable work-station. The tiled bathroom has plenty of hot water and bath/shower. A large cupboard houses heated airers, an iron and ironing board and many other accessories to make your stay a comfortable one.
Access to the property is through the gardens of Town End Cottage, a traditional 19th-century family home.

Lounge area
The lounge area is bright and spacious with high beamed ceilings and a vibrant picture gallery. A comfortable 4 seater sofa extends into a sofa bed for extra guests. There is a 49-inch flat screen smart TV for entertainment, a piano and guitar. A large coffee table houses a selection of local guide books, board games and cards.

Kitchen area
The fully fitted kitchen has an electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. There is a 4-slice toaster, matching kettle, a full set of pans and all the crockery, cutlery, glass-wear and cooking utensils needed for a self-catering stay. Coffee and tea are provided. A 4-seater table and chairs comfortably extends to seat 6.

Bathroom
The tiled bathroom has a bath with shower, toilet and sink. The large Velux window allows for plenty of natural light. A heated towel rail keeps the space cosy and warm. Plenty of towels are provided for your stay. The large bathroom cupboard houses heated airers for drying clothes, an iron and ironing board, washing basket and pegs plus plenty of space for storing suitcases and bags.

Bedroom
The generous bedroom has underfloor heating, a king-size bed, feather duvet and a pair of bed side tables and lamps. By day, Orton Scar is visible through the large window and black out blinds and lined curtains keep the room dark at night. A dressing table doubles up as a comfortable work station and there is a designated space for hanging clothes. A hairdryer is provided.

Outside.
French doors from the kitchen open onto an enclosed private garden with mature trees. A variety of birds visit the garden, sometimes a red squirrel and there is even a resident hedgehog! A table and chairs provide seating for outside dining or a morning coffee. Secure storage for bikes and outdoor gear can be provided with prior arrangement. There is a retractable washing line.
Access to the property is through the gardens of Town End Cottage, a traditional Cumbrian 19th-century family home. Town End Barn and its garden is separated from the main property by a mature yew hedge and gate.

Guest Access
The keys to the property are kept in the key safe in the garden of Town End Barn allowing guests an independent stay, though the hosts are on hand to help in any way if required.
Parking is available on the quiet lane directly outside the property.

Other things to note
The nearby towns of Penrith and Kendal have all the major supermarkets, independent shops and chains. Sedburgh is England’s official book town and has The Three Hares Café and Deli. Plenty of local pubs are just a short drive away from Orton for lunch or evening meals, including the excellent Black Bull at Sedburgh, The Black Swan at Ravenstonedale and the community run Butchers Arms at Crosby Ravensworth. A couple of miles from Orton is Tebay services with a high-end deli and gift shop, a butchers counter and restaurant with stunning views. The Tebay Services Hotel has an excellent restaurant with fresh local produce on the menu. Just a few miles from the M6, the village of Orton is accessible, making it very easy to get here and get away
