The large authentic house with walls of more than one meter thick has its own entrance and a private terrace in the spacious garden overlooking a valley with vineyards and in the distance a village with characteristic white-plastered houses. On the terrace in a lovely sun you will experience the peace and the real silence that can be found here and many Westerners rarely experience it.
Provençal, a traditional and, for a number of years, protected wine village in northern Portugal. It is located six hundred meters in the heart of the Douro area (Unesco's World Heritage) and about 8 km from Pinhao, where the men on the terrace for the local pub play dominoes and the women at the shared laundry area do their laundry. The friendly village knows next to the simple village houses, stately, sometimes ruined mansions that remind the rich wine and port families of this area. By the end of the nineteenth century, around 1875, the Phyloxera had destroyed large parts of the vineyards in Europe. In the Douro, the battle against the so-called grape flu began from Provesende and therefore takes an important place in the history of the vineyard in the port area.
Provesende can be reached by car.
It is also possible to get to Pinhao by train and from there by taxi.
Provesende is about 1.5 hours drive from Porto Airport.
Several walks are possible from the house in Provesende.
Provesende has a living room restaurant, where you can dine by appointment.
