Where you’ll be

Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, Canada

About one hour to skiing, boarding or snowshoeing at Mount Washington. It is also a great place for mountain biking and hiking in the summer.

Summer Day Beach House is at Qualicum Landing. Qualicum Landing is a gated luxury waterfront community about 45 minutes by car from the Nanaimo ferry terminal or about the same time and distance from Comox Airport. Centrally located in what is known as Lighthouse Country and the Oceanside region of central Vancouver Island, it is 10 minutes north of Qualicum Beach. The address is 5251 West Island Highway, Nanaimo Regional District, V9K 2C1. This is also known as the Oceanside Route, Highway 19A, or the old Island Highway. Qualicum Landing is also accessible from Exit 75 on the new Inland Island Highway (Highway 19) that runs parallel a few miles inland from the West Island Highway.

The pool and whirlpools are open from June 15 to September 15. The tennis/sports court open all year round.

During your stay

After your morning coffee, walk on the 500 feet of private beachfront, or beach comb along miles of undisturbed beach and see deer, bald eagles and the rare Qualicum white raven. Enjoy your lunch in the provided picnic basket at the clubhouse where you may use the swimming pool, separate adult and children whirlpools, exercise room, party room and pool table. At the end of the day relax at the beach picnic tables or around the fire pit located by the beach as you watch the Alaska cruise ships pass between you, Lasqueti and Texada Islands.

Over the next days you can golf at one of six local golf courses, or enjoy sport fishing at Deep Bay. Visit the pub and fish market at French Creek, where you can also take the passenger ferry to Lasqueti Island. Baynes Sound offers bird watching. Horseback riding is nearby. Travel on the nearby Buckley Bay car ferry for the 15-minute trip to Denman Island or on a second ferry on to Hornby Island. Provincial parks abound: you can swim, suntan, or play in the sand at nearby Qualicum Beach, 2 waterslide parks in Parksville, or Spider Lake, go spelunking at the nearby Horne Lake Caves, or enjoy the majesty of old-growth forests at Cathedral Grove. Shop or dine in the delightful town of Qualicum Beach with its galleries and restaurants, or visit the village of Coombs known for it's goats living on the Roof. Enjoy browsing the old country market, ice cream parlor, shopping and Italian restaurant with delicious wood fired pizza. Located nearby is the parrot refuge and butterfly world. A leisurely day trip west to Port Alberni and Long Beach, or north to Campbell River, Courtenay and Comox are all waiting for you.
