Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Eden's Echoes is a private country guest suite, separated from our main home via a covered porch/breezeway. We your hosts, Marc and Dorcas, occupy the main home and one of us likely would be immediately available should you need anything. We're just three steps and a doorbell-that-looks-like-a-door-knocker away! While the main house is not shared, guests are welcome to enjoy relaxing on the patios on the north and south sides.

The space
A custom home designer by trade, I conceived Eden's Echoes to be able to offer fine hotel room amenities in a very quiet and peaceful country setting, with abundant wildlife and views of the Blue Ridge Mountains folding down into the New River Valley. The decor is subtly playful, while tying together a few different motifs into one coherent whole. As our guest you will be welcome to wander about the 4-acre property of field, forest, and hollow, finding some rest in this calming environment.

Where you’ll be

Blacksburg, Virginia, United States

We are located in the village of McCoy, about a 15-minute drive to the northwest edge of the Virginia Tech campus. The New River Junction campground and river tubing business is 1.6 miles distant, while the Whitethorne Public Boat Ramp is 4.2 miles away. We can accommodate parking a boat trailer for fishermen guests.

A former coal mining village, McCoy now consists primarily of single family homes in a rural setting, on a variety of parcel sizes, with some farms dotting the landscape. McCoy has two churches, a well-equipped volunteer fire station, and a very small post office.

A small park with a little league-sized baseball field, walking track, picnic shelter, and playground lies behind the fire station. This is a very short drive from our home.

A great restaurant, The Palisades, in Eggleston, is accessed via a scenic drive along the New River.

During your stay

While I work as a custom residential designer, one of my main pursuits has been practicing the sport of falconry. Following in my oldest son's footsteps, I started my own apprenticeship in 2016 and am now a fully licensed "General Class" falconer. Depending on the time of year and whether I have a hawk in my possession, guests may be welcome to interact with a live bird of prey, and I am more than happy at any time to educate folks about the birds and the sport.

My wife, Dorcas, is a former home school mom, the consummate "homebody," cancer survivor, and former diabetic. (Yes, you read that "former" right!) Her passion now is sharing the vast amount of knowledge she has gained in the process of reversing her diabetes with anyone who would care to learn her story. So, feel free to ask if you're curious.

With Dorcas being a homebody, and my running my design business from home, either one would likely be immediately available to meet our guests needs, answer any questions they may have, or just stop for a friendly chat. We try our best to practice the Golden Rule here.
