Collingwood is one of Ontario's favourite ski destinations and is 10 minutes to Blue Mountain by car and a bus runs every hour with a stop 1 block from the house if you're coming up by bus. Special rates from November to March for monthly ski season rental so you can come and go at your leisure.
Check out Georgian Bay area happenings to plan your trip: Visit Georgian Bay and/or My Collingwood websites, and view my Guest Guide at the bottom of the page with places to see and eat.
The Collingwood Marina at the famous Terminal Building is a 5 minute drive. From there, there is a great walking / biking trail that follows the bay. Great for birding, photography and fishing along that route which links with the Rail Trail that goes to Meaford. You can also launch your sail or power boat, canoe, paddle board or kayak right here in town.
Collingwood has some amazing restaurants (check my Guidebook), Jazz in the summer and of course the world famous Elvis Festival. Summer is an amazing time in the area for events.
Sunset Point Beach is a 10 minute drive and a wonderful spot to catch one of our beautiful sunsets, eat from the best food truck around and just bicycle and walk about.
The Blue Mountain Village is just a 10 minute drive and a hub of activity year round. You can attend many free concerts, mountain biking, Free Spirit caving and kayaking lessons and excursion, and Scenic Caves fun including a zip-line and suspension bridge.
The thermal baths at Scandinave Spa are also a few minutes away. There are also very good Yoga Studios, massage therapists and gyms in-town.
Explore the Georgian Triangle by car or bike. The Grey Highlands scenic routes with Vineyards/apple orchards, and water falls are great any time of year.
Craigleith Provincial Park and the gallery hub of Clarksburg. Rent or drop your canoe or kayak in Heathcote or along one of the access points on the Beaver River.
Have a look at my other ad which has local attractions, regional sightseeing, restaurants and shops mapped out.
I think this would be a great place for a weekend get-away, if you're looking to stay for a while or want the comfort of being able to come and go over a longer period of time.
For people who come to Collingwood on business, are relocating and are in the in-between stage, or would prefer to live in a friendly home instead of buying or renting a small condo.
The kitchen is shared, and you are most welcome to prepare meals or snacks, or settle down with a tea for the night. If you plan to cook I will be sure to make room in the fridge for you.
There is a washer and dryer for you to use, and if you're here on business I also have a steam cleaner.
There is a mud room for snow gear, bikes and such
This is my home and its important that we all feel comfortable and at-home. Interaction is as much or as little as people want. I like to interact but also value my privacy, and will yours as well.
If you want to play a wicked game of Scrabble, I'm up for that too.
This is a quiet, family neighbourhood, with a lot to do in the area if that's what you want as I've described. You can just relax and have a spa night and watch movies at home. In the summer there is a large yard, deck, patio furniture and BBQ.
While there is on-site parking, public transportation is available just one block from the house. Buses run from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays; Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
There is also a Blue Mountain shuttle bus from downtown Collingwood to the resort for a $2 fare, it runs in the morning until 6pm. If you don't want to drive to the mountain I can find out exactly where you'd have to catch the shuttle.
There is also a Wasaga Beach link that is $2.00 each way.
I have transit, trail and recreations maps available and can help guide you.
If the upstairs room is not occupied another friend could rent that space and you could all stay here.
While I don't make breakfast, you are welcome to make yourself a tea or latte, and have some breakfast before you head out to enjoy the area. My treat!
If you are a couple and want to stay, message or call me to discuss.
The kitchen is shared, and you are most welcome to prepare meals or snacks, or settle down with a tea for the night. If you plan to cook I will be sure to make room in the fridge.
The upstairs main bath is shared.
You have access to all the things listed in 'The Space' above.
There is a mud room for snow gear, bikes and such

Other things to note

IF you are EMF sensitive I have EMF protectors on the hydro metre, electrical panel on the inside and the WiFi modem.
I work like most other people must do. On days that I work, sometimes check-in has to be when I'm off or on my lunch hour.
Please make yourself at home, while respecting me and the space.
I am very easy going and appreciate that in others.
This is my home and not a hotel, so communication is everything, IF there is anything that you need or is not right please let me know while you are here so we can work on it together.
We don't like to give hydro any more than we need to, please turn off the lights after yourself.
Respect the space as if it were your own.
