Location
This South Mission Hills home is 0.1 miles from the renowned eateries that make up International Restaurant Row.
The beaches, Seaworld, Coronado, Balboa Park and downtown are each a 10 minute drive away. Close to all major freeways including I-5.
The Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) main gate is only a 10 minute walk away.
Parking
1 onsite parking space provided.
Outdoor Space
Take full advantage of San Diego's natural beauty and world famous weather in the private outdoor space. Your fenced in patio is only for your exclusive use (a second house is located in front of this cottage and that house has another separate outdoor space as well).
Bedroom
The bedroom has Queen bed. An accordion door separates the bedroom from the Living Room.
Living Room
The 2nd optional bed is in the living room. The back of the sofa slides back to turn the sofa into a twin-sized sleeper or alternatively, guests can move aside the coffee table to set up the 18" queen air mattress.
*Note: if you need the 2nd bed, be sure to mention this at the time of booking so that extra linens will be provided.
WIFI + Work
Should you need to get work done during your visit, we have high speed wifi and a work desk.
Entertainment
The living room has a 50" television with a Firestick to connect to your steaming apps.
Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen is stocked with the cooking essentials. The appliances are a refrigerator, gas oven, microwave and toaster.
Coffee
We provide a 5-cup drip coffee machine, coffee, sugar and Coffeemate. Prefer a latte? A coffee shop (Gelato Vero Caffe) is a 2 minute walk away!
Laundry
A washer and dryer are located on-site, adjacent to your cottage. This is a shared amenity as about once per week the cleaning team will need to use the laundry machines. The laundry is located outdoors (so the cleaner would NOT come into your unit).
Climate Control
There are two ceiling fans and many windows to take full advantage of the breeze. A window AC unit is in the apartment in the summer, though due to our mild climate and the cooling breeze from our proximity to the coast, it's only occasionally needed. Don't forget to pack a jacket for the cool San Diego evenings!
Pets
A dog is permitted provided you are willing to follow the pet rules (see the "Rules" section at the bottom. Please be sure to enter your pet in Airbnb's "guest count" section (there's a place to enter the number of adults, children and pets) before booking. Advanced authorization must be given prior to booking the reservation. A $250 fine will be assessed if any pets are found on the property without express approval.
Children
Children welcome! A BabyBjörn Travel Crib is available at no cost (it must be reserved at the time of booking).
A children's items package is available for rent for $50. Included is your preferred section of the following items: Bumbo 3-in-1 multi seat with tray, Munchkin shampoo rinser, AngelCare baby bath support, GB Pockit+ all-terrain stroller, Hatch sound machine, infant toys, beach toys, and a selection of baby books.
Beach Gear

Q: Do you offer early check-in or late check-outs?
A: We use this precious little time we have between guests to prepare the home following the Airbnb Enhanced Cleaning Guidelines, as well as to complete any maintenance tasks. If you request an early check-in or late check-out, we will absolutely try to accommodate if possible, though we may not cannot confirm until a day or two ahead. If additional time is crucial for you, please book an additional night to your stay.
Q: Do you allow luggage drop-off for early arrivals or late departures?
A: We will try to accommodate this when possible.
Q: Is the home ADA accessible?
A: You will need to first climb 12 stairs to the home entrance.
Q: Do you offer a cleaning service?
A: Yes, our cleaners can accommodate additional cleaning services for an added cost. Just ask us!
Q: Can I reserve on behalf of a friend, family member or co-worker?
A: While we would love to host whoever you are booking for, we do need them to book for themselves with their own account. For business trips or if you book travel for your company, Airbnb allows designated bookers at companies enrolled in Airbnb for Work to book trips on behalf of others.
Q: Is there any noise?
A: San Diego is unique in that, like this cottage, our airport is also near downtown. There's only one runway and all planes take the same path across Balboa Park, Little Italy & Point Loma. Although the flight path does NOT go above this South Mission Hills home, you'll still hear some plane noise at any home in proximity to downtown and some train noise (the train itself cannot be heard at all, but if the engineer blows his horn that may be heard) at any home in proximity to Amtrak's coastal line. The airport imposes a no-flying curfew daily from 11pm to 7am. I consider the home peaceful and the noise faint, but I want to be upfront for any very sensitive guests.
Q: Do you use scents in the home?
A: We do not use any Glade Plug-ins, scented candles, scented sprays, or scented detergents in this home.
