Stylish, dog-friendly in-law suite on bottom floor of owner occupied mountaintop Quechee Home. This house includes all of the seclusion of a Vermont get away while just a short drive to Hanover/Dartmouth college, DHMC Medical, Woodstock, multiple VT/NH ski areas, and amazing golf courses. The guest Suite has a small kitchenette, private entrance and deck with gas grill and modern furnishings, WiFi and TV. Guests can have the option to access the owner’s full kitchen and laundry upon request.
The space
Guest suite located on the bottom floor of a newly remodeled mountainside home. Our home is a couple miles up a quiet wooded road (for city people will feel like the middle of nowhere- despite being 2 miles to the heart of Quechee) that truly gives the feeling of a tranquil escape. Off a private lower deck, guests have their own entrance with keypad access for seamless coming, going and check in. The large living area has 1.5 bathrooms, a big smart TV, a very comfy Joybird sofa with an equally comfortable pull out bed, an eating space and small desk space. There is a kitchenette (with sink, microwave and fridge/freezer- there is not a stove but there is an air fryer and small combination oven) and a small propane Weber grill for use on the deck.
The kitchenette is equipped with dishes, basic cookware and cooking needs for grilling and other food prep that doesn't require a stove. There is laundry available in owners home above and easily coordinated with owner as needed. Use of owner’s kitchen is also an option.
There is a full bedroom with a Queen bed and Casper mattress, a closet and attached full bathroom with a shower and tub.
Enjoy this peaceful, cozy and relaxing space that is perfect for any visit to the Upper Valley. Come visit Dartmouth College, ski Killington, Quechee or Saskadena 6, explore Quechee and Woodstock, be close to DHMC medical center or to simply enjoy the wonders of a Vermont, Upper Valley get away.
Please note: The main home is owner occupied (which includes 2 younger children) and is not sound proofed. Expect to hear life above! There is a sound machine and fan available in the space to help mitigate noise when/if necessary. All things considered, we are a fairly quiet family but you will hear us when we are home (generally out during the week day work hours and home in evenings).
We are a dog friendly/pet friendly home. Please inquire about pets upon booking, as we have a couple of requests for Pets. Note that there are two cats and dog who live above who are outside a lot in the summer The lower space is cat free. We require a pet fee to ensure extra capacity for cleaning and to make it possible to continue renting to pet owners- which is a priority for us.
We have a steep driveway that is professionally plowed and sanded, but can be slippery in winter. Similarly- we keep the path to the rental entrance well sanded- but you do have the option of entering through main house if this pathway gets too slippery. In a big storm- we get plowed on timeline of snow removal schedule... in large storms there could be delays in getting out. Please be aware that Vermont roads can be icy, snow covered and slippery. Make sure your vehicle is capable of driving up wintery roads (all paved).
Guest access
Some maps applications cannot find our home, though others can. No matter what, any GPS will get you to the center of Quechee (and Quechee library)- from there- look at directions provided once you have booked to ensure you are going to the right place. We are about 10 minutes from exit 1 on I89 in Vermont and just 2 miles from Simon Pearce Restaurant.
Other things to note
As a bottom floor space, you should expect to hear footsteps and other sounds of life above. While we are a relatively quiet family, private and very friendly, you will hear footsteps, voices, the kids being kids and other noises from doing dishes and general sounds of life above. We will also be able to hear some sounds from you- particularly when we are in our kitchen. Seeking guests who will be respectful and understanding regarding some noise. As noted above- we do offer some noise mitigation options (a fan, SONOS speakers and a sound machine).
As a reminder, I am happy to negotiate use of my kitchen (stove top/cookware and freezer in particular) as well as access to laundry. Just message me prior to or upon booking so we can coordinate.
Guests can access amenities at the Quechee Lakes Club such as indoor/outdoor pools, the fitness center, golf, tennis and skiing by calling the Quechee Club member services number (made available after booking) and paying a fee. Booking for a month or longer? You can become a renter guest with full access to all amenities by submitting your rental agreement and paying a monthly fee.
