This is such an odd review. Francesca lived here for some time, months. She never mentioned cleanliness issue or issues to me during that entire time. Of course, we would have made every reasonable attempt to address this. I manage many many properties and am glad that Francesca spoke highly of me here, but by far the vast responses we have received to this space to all spaces I manage is that they are an excellent value, at a fair price and well maintained - including cleanliness. I always have a bit of a problem with guests who do not report or speak to an issue and then complain about it. I always make sure to have an open line of communication with guests so that they fell comfortable reporting their needs to me as I would much rather address a problem for a happy guest than to ignore a problem and have an unhappy guest. So when I do that as Francesca says I did here in her case, and then hear this complaint re: cleanliness, it's frustrating, unfair, and frankly and little off putting of her part. But the main oddity here is that Francesca told me and basically says here that the room is as advertised "but too small for a long stay." First of all, Francesca was offered a much larger room for the same price simply to accommodate her particular issues, (as we were in the position to make this offer at that time) and she refused it saying that after we replaced her mattress she was fine. This clearly implied to me that she liked her space. Also, "everything as advertised but" ... again, is odd. She knew what it was so why did she take it? Not only did she change her needs as she was in the apartment, but she refused a larger unit with a full kitchen. I'm sorry, I am at a loss here. If we try to accommodate and make the extra effort, how can we be held liable to a response like this. I got what i ordered, I wanted something else, I was offered the "something else" I wanted but I refused to take that, but I must tell you, I wasn't happy. Something is missing that Francesca knows, but that I do not. Frankly, again, the lack of logic makes it sound to a professional like myself that she had to be unhappy about something. Again, if we had made an error or were negligent in some respect, fair enough. But here, if you follow the logic of her own testimony, we were not. She only leaves out that she was offered a full studio with full kitchen for the same price and refused it. Very frustrating to put oneself out like this to a guest and get such a review. Dangerous! THIS AREA IS PERFEDTLY TO WALK AT NIGHT! Her subjective feelings aside, we have a perfect safety record in this building over the 20 years I have managed it. What danger? in Hollywood? this part of the city? Not mentioned. At night? Again, maybe she felt unsafe ... after dark. That I cannot answer to. But to state that the area is not "safe after dark" is simply untrue. It's not true. I do not have a single tenant who feels this way and cannot remember the last tenant who felt this way. I get the occasional guest who states that they do not feel safe "in the city." Ok. Again, subjectively, I cannot answer to someone who subjectively feels unsafe ... in the city ... after dark. This is untrue and stated as if a fact is irresponsible. Which immediately leads to "noisey." I can imagine, with the windows open, that a Hollywood apt. is noisier than a country apartment; but with the double-pane windows closed, it is perfectly quiet. This inability to sleep at night, close the windows and turn on the A/C. It again, doesn't speak well re: Francesca and her ability to form clear opinions. The customer is always right and i wish that Francesca had a happier stay here. Her positives are often mentioned by guests, the location, etc. I was fortunate to have received praise from her re: my efforts personally; but the framing of her complaints are inaccurate, unfair, and largely illogical. She was overall, a wonderful guest. I wish that she had made more sense in her criticisms or made the entire circumstance more clear. The review would read substantively different. The say it reads now, as it's even handed, is not accurate at all. If she felt "unsafe" she needs to say that and to say it is unsafe. And if she felt unsafe, it would be helpful to say why or how. If you have double paned windows and complain of street noise then you must say, I could have closed the windows and put the A/C on, but i prefer to have the windows open at night. The cleanliness issue I already addressed. "Deep Cleaning" seems to be the final conclusion there. Again, by far the majority of reviews are positive and this "I feel I should mention it because I saw it in another review." Look at the number of reviews, the number of reveiws that are positive, the number that complain re: cleanliness. I'll stand by my record on that. And, please, mention it and we'd address it. And the issue that upsets me frankly and which puts the entire review in questionable territory: I got what I ordered but didn't like it; refused to be accommodated; but need to complain to everyone else that it's not suitable. This is the logic and simple fact re: the size and description of the accommodation and our address to Francesca's issue with the accommodation. You be the jusdge of that and draw your own conclusion. To me, believe me, it is frustrating to read this after making all, even more than reasonable attempts to address her issues.
