Wake up in a hand-built yurt at the edge of a spring-fed pond on a working heritage farm in Northern Ontario. Step outside and the water is right there. Enjoy a wood-fired sauna, campfires at dusk, 70 acres of trails, farm animals and truly dark skies.
The yurt is an unheated, rustic camping experience—cozy bedding is provided, but come prepared for outdoor temperatures.

The space
The Pond Yurt sits directly at the water’s edge — the spring-fed pond is your front yard. This isn’t a listing that mentions a pond somewhere on the property. You open the door and you’re there.
In autumn, the experience changes with the season. Crisp mornings, colourful forest, cool evenings around the campfire and some of the clearest nights of the year make this one of our favourite times to experience the farm.
The yurt sleeps 2 with a queen bed and was hand-built here at Foxfire Heritage Farm — a 100-acre working farm dedicated to conserving some of Canada’s rarest heritage livestock breeds, including Lynch Lineback Cattle, Large Black Hogs and Chantecler Chickens. You’re not visiting a theme-park version of farm life. This is the real thing.
The wood-fired sauna sits right on the pond bank. Heat it up, step outside into the cool autumn air and relax with the pond in front of you. As the temperatures drop, the contrast between a hot sauna and a cold fall evening only gets better.
Evenings here are quiet in a way that’s genuinely hard to find anymore. Campfire by the water. Stars reflected on the pond. Minimal light pollution. Bring a camera — the night photography here can be exceptional.
There are 70 acres of mixed forest and pasture to explore, with trails winding through the woods and along the water. Autumn is especially beautiful for hiking, birdwatching, wildlife photography and simply wandering through the changing forest.
**A note about autumn stays:** The Pond Yurt is **unheated** and should be thought of as a rustic camping experience with the comfort of a real bed and solid shelter. There is **no overnight heat inside the yurt**, and nighttime temperatures can get quite cold later in the season. Warm bedding is provided, but guests should come prepared with appropriate fall clothing and expect the yurt temperature to follow the outdoor temperature.
**What’s included:** wood-fired sauna, campfire pit, BBQ and propane, potable water, power bank for lighting and device charging, firewood, queen bed and bedding.
The yurt runs off-grid — intentionally. No hydro hum, no light pollution and no noise. Just the pond, the farm, the fire and the changing season.
