This is a very vibrant and multi-cultural city! Everything you need is close by. This is the benefit of being in the downtown core. As with any other major city, there is a homeless population. Although they keep to themselves, it could be a shock for some people. if this type of thing scares you, you may want to reconsider staying in the downtown core.
The neighborhood is safe, and considering it is downtown, the apartment is very quiet!
