Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
In between Rome and Florence in the historic centre of a small village with centuries old winding streets you find this medieval house just next to restaurants, bars and a magnificent renaissance square with small shops loaded with vegetables, gourmet food, wine and art craft.
The house has 3 floors, and a terrace on the 4th floor with a panoramic view to all corners of the landscape.

The space
The 3 floor house is carefully restored with respect to the original building. It has exposed beams , whitewashed walls and terracotta floors - typical of Tuscany. It has the highest placed terrace in the city on the 4th floor, with a panoramic view to all corners of the landscape - on the left Monte Cetona and the country palace of the Italian designer Valentino, in front the historical centre, on the right the mountains and the two towns Chiusi and Citta Della Pieve, and at the back La Rocca. On the first floor there is a kitchen with a big fireplace, and enough place for a dining-table for 6 persons. A big ceilinged dining room with a spacious table and a beautiful view on the historical centre. A hallway and two bathrooms, one with a shower. On the second floor is the master bedroom and a cozy living room with fireplace. A small room with wooden bench leads to the third floor, where you find a romantic bedroom with a double bed and the spacious mansard with four single beds.

Other things to note
The house is situated in the historical centre of Cetona, just two minutes away from the fantastic renaissance square Piazza Garibaldi. The square has two very good restaurants, Da Nilo serves well-made traditional tuscan cuisine, Ristorante / Osteria del Merlo situated in a tower at the edge of the square, serves great experimental dishes. On the square you will find two bars and a pizzaria, and shops for all your needs- charcuterie, butcher, bakery, wine, fruits and vegetables. Two banks, hairdressers, jewellery, clothing and a pottery. On a side street off the square you will find La Frasca serving tasting menu's with their own products. On another side street you will find at small traditional Tuscan restaurant, Taverna Del Moro, and one more bar. On Saturday the local market is at the square, where you can buy cheese, charcuterie, vegetables, fresh fruit, fish, paninis etc.

Besides being a dad i'm a journalist, writer and holder of a master in Italian and filosophy. So when I'm not in Denmark I will properly be setting my feet on italian ground. Cetona is an inspiring frame for any italian visit. Here life is shaped by modernism, medieval times, the etruscans, the renaissance and "il paese" is close to Siena, Arezzo and a cooling bath in the lake Trasimeno. You will enjoy the culture, the food and the wine. Actually you can't avoid it. It's all around you and must definitely - "it''s in the air..!"
