Centrally located in the medieval centre of Beaulieu. Light and airy 1 bedroom apt. on the 3rd floor of a 15th century home. Original exposed roof beams throughout the apt., views of the 12th century church, village rooftops and hillsides. Walking distance to cafes, shops, boulangeries + river.
This medieval colombage home is now 3 one bedroom fully furnished and equipped apartments. Each one has its own unique charm, La Dordogne, La Correze and on the top floor is La Charente. The house was uninhabitable and in a perilous condition when we bought her. We spent 5 years rebuilding and renovating. She is a new house inside her medieval exterior. All apartments are 3 star meuble de tourisme rated.
We have kept as many of the original interior features as possible. This apartment being at the top of the building features exposed original roof beams throughout. Also during works we found medieval carved wall beams, now a feature in the bedroom wall. Large Velux windows make this apartment very light and airy with views of the village rooftops, the church and surrounding hillsides. The lobby and stairwell back wall is of pointed stones. We hope you enjoy the experience of living in a medieval village in a 15th century house with its insides offering you all the modern comforts and conveniences.
Entry to the apartments is at the side of the property. Each apartment is fitted with an interphone but you must take your keys with you so you can re-enter if you all go out together. There is a communal stairwell to level one and two and Apartment 3 is entered on the 2nd floor as its staircase is inside the apartment.

Other things to note
As this is a medieval home in a medieval village garages are a rarity! There is a parking area behind the church very close to the house and off the main road. All parking in Beaulieu is free and in ample supply either in lots or along the streets. During summer there are occasional night markets and vide graniers/brocantes held in the old centre and near the house.
During July and August on Monday evenings there is a Marché de Producteurs held by the river near the Chapel. You can purchase food and volunteers will BBQ it for you. Tables and benches are provided, a beverage tent and live music.
There is an ironing board and iron available.
Please respect the care that has been given to creating this apartment. She is an ancient building with a new life so lets treat her kindly so she can enjoy the future! The apartment is strictly non smoking and sorry but not pets are allowed.
We have traveled and worked in many countries and chose to live in France. We bought this 15th century house in a terrible condition and have rebuilt and converted it into 3 separate one bedroom apartments. It has been 5 years in the making and we look forward to sharing this part of France with our guests.
