🪸 South Arm’s Marine Conservation Area is located in Ralphs Bay, this area is home to tidal sand flats, microalgae, invertebrates, and shallow sediments.
🪺 It's also a vital habitat for shorebirds, such as sandpipers, pied oystercatchers, and red-capped plovers.
🪶 The area is especially important for migratory shorebirds, including the eastern curlew, which is endangered in Tasmania.

Spring Beach can be accessed from the Blessington Track. A safe swimming beach with views of the western shore from Blackmans Bay to Mount Wellington.
🦭 FORT Beach is a sheltered 800m long beach with rocky headlands & rock platforms at both ends.

Shorter than Fort Beach (it is 400m long), this beach is secluded and comes as a surprise if you don’t already know about its existence.
Safest access route is via the walking path (approx 15-20 mins) from Fort Beach across Cape Deliverance. Mutton bird Rookies in this vicinity.

The Iron Pot lighthouse, originally Tasmania’s first, is automated now but the sandstone island, just 1.27 ha, contains the remains of the light keeper’s home, as well as landing infrastructure.
The island is at the entrance to the Derwent, just off Cape Direction, south of Pots Bay.
🦀 SOUTH ARM Beach is a crescent shaped beach 2.5kms long and faces west.
It is sheltered from the swells travelling up the Derwent River by the headland at the southern end of the beach.
Has a permanent diving pontoon, jetty/boat ramp and toilet block nearby. Safe for swimming.
🐟 HALF MOON BAY Beach is located to the north of South Arm Beach.
This secluded beach at the northern end of the bay is bordered by Pigeon Holes and faces south.
150 m long, it ends in the south at a rock platform backed by a low point about 100m long.
Access down Algoma or Balema Streets.
🏄♂️ HOPE Beach is a popular surfing beach. It is 5km long and faces southeast into Storm Bay exposing it to all southerly swells.
Waves average 1 to 1.5m and maintain a moderately steep beach. Rips are known in the area.
Betsey Island is located 1.2km offshore, directly in front of the eastern end of the beach.
Hope Beach can be accessed via Roaring Beach Road at the western end or Goat Bluff car park at the eastern end, off South Arm road.

⛱️ SPRING Beach. A small beach that faces northwest and is sheltered from southern ocean swells. Has a permanent diving pontoon and is the closest beach to us, just a short walk away.
Spring Beach can be accessed from the Blessington Track. A safe swimming beach with views of the western shore from Blackmans Bay to Mount Wellington.
