We are a family of four with 2 girls, ages 7 and 10. This was a great apartment to stay in. The location was perfect - in an amazing neighborhood with great restaurants and shopping close by. There was easy access to the metro and it wasn't far to walk to many of the wonderful sights we wanted to see. The apartment was quiet and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again in the future. A friend of the owner, David, helped us arrange rides to and from the train. He also welcomed us to the apartment. Perfect.
Our family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) stayed here for one week in March. This was our first experience with Airbnb and it couldn't have gone better.
From the beginning, Mike was very communicative and helpful. The beautiful apartment is as it looks online - high, wood-beamed ceilings, nice light, classic French windows and view, lovely furniture, lots of space, great central location.
Mike's friend David met us and showed us the apartment. The large kitchen (where they had left a complimentary bottle of wine and fresh tomatoes) was well-stocked and we had breakfast in the dining room area every day. There is a washer/dryer, TV (with English-language movies), and Paris guidebooks to make your stay easier.
The beds are comfortable and the apartment is very clean with fresh linens. Great shower pressure with hot water.
The apartment is in the Marais and there are several cafes, restaurants and late-night markets nearby.
We hope to return to this apartment one day and will be recommending it to our friends. Thank you, Mike!
We had a fantastic stay here, and if anything the photos don't do the place justice. We were looking for somewhere that had a Parisian feel, with good transport links and was situated in a lively area, and that was exactly what we got.
That said, it was quiet at night and the neighbourhood felt very safe. Mike was also very responsive and helpful when we had a request mid-trip.
I'm not sure it's mentioned in the description but there's a sofa bed in the living room, as well as the twin beds upstairs and the master bedroom, so plenty of room for a family or group of 4-6 adults to stay.
I don't think you could expect a better place than this when it comes to reasonably priced accommodation in the heart of the Marais.
This lovely apartment oozes character and lives up to its description. As it was an "entire apartment" rental, I was kind of surprised that a previous reviewer expected a B&B-type experience. David (the friend) welcomed us and orientated us to the place pretty well and helped by phone where needed, but he didn't cook us breakfast ;)
Great size for four, there is one toilet/powderoom downstairs & one upstairs, with two bathrooms (one lovely ensuite with no loo, and another functional, but small shower room). As it is autumn, the underfloor and radiator heating was lovely, but no aircon. The issue with 2nd-bedoom queen bedding causing inability to open windows looked true. The double glazing keeps out a lot of noise from the small but popular Rue du Temple, as long as they're closed.
For Parisian apartments, big functional spaces - kitchen was spacious and adequately stocked, laundry was great, with dryer & iron. External staircase is narrow and elevator big enough for one man and one suitcase, no kidding. Internal staircase is a very narrow spiral, manageable but I wouldn't like to do it everyday.
Plenty of food and market stuff near Rue de Bretagne closeby, both République and Arts-et-Métiers Metros 5 mins walk, but better shopping and clubbing of Le Marais was 15-20 mins walk, towards the Hôtel de Ville end.
It was like having our own place; a little pricey, but have you seen Parisian real estate values? Thanks guys for a lovely week.
1 person of our party of 3 arrived very early from Sydney and while we appreciated that she could wait in the apartment while it was cleaned and general maintenance carried out from prior guest this concluded 6PM that night!
This apartment is not in the general spirit of AIRBNB and is just another apartment rental in Paris! The owners have a "friend" looking after the apartment who generally took days to get back to us , if at all we travel regularly so we just got on with it but again that was not in the spirit of AIRBNB.
The apartment is in a great location in The Marais but very noisy no air conditioning and unfortunately I wish we would have been told that in the 2nd bedroom if the bed is made up into a double you can not open the windows at all. Both bedrooms were stifling hot at night.
Overall we were disappointed.
this apartment was lovely. we have stayed in several apartments in paris and this was the best. we always stay in the same area which we think is the best (marais). this apartment is a good size with big windows. it was very clean (not always the case) with finally, white sheets!! i would highly recommend it and will definitely go again. david, who met us was extremely helpful and kind. i haven't got anything bad to say about it. also english tv and easy. perfect
Last time we came to Paris we stayed in a hotel just around the corner, but staying in Mike's apartment really felt like coming home and living in Paris for 5 days; the apartment is beautiful, very comfortable and well equipped. It is well situated in the Marais which is a great neighborhood. Many good restaurants within a few minutes walk, as well as a supermarket and all other shops one could need. Everything was like promised and the communication with Mike and David was fast and clear. We hope to be back one day! Thanks!
