The space
A traditional village house, it has been very nicely renovated by its Spanish owner, a local specialist in rural tourism. Furnishings are modern and comfortable, yet nicely rustic in style, and the house is both neat and practical. It's an ideal holiday home for a family or group of friends who want to enjoy serene village life in the heartland of rural Andalucía.

Other things to note
This village house is situated on a small and peaceful street at the top of Zagrilla Alta. Containing an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area, its backdoor leads onto a secluded patio with a raised pool. Upstairs is a shared bathroom with shower; a double bedroom; two rooms containing two single beds; and a room with one single bed. Available as an all year round let, the house has airconditioning and radiators in all the bedrooms. Downstairs there is a woodburner for cozy evenings by the fire.
The house is situated in the uppermost part of the winding village streets at the foot of the Alcaide mountain. Zagrilla is an unspoiled haven, built around a natural spring which flows through the heart of the village all year round. An old wash house still stands in full working order and is used by villagers today.
The landscape is scattered with Quince trees aswell as the usual Andalucian olive. A locally produced quince jelly is available here along with Zagrillas own goats cheese.
There are two places to eat in the village, Pacos Bar and also La Fuente Restaurant. They both serve locally produced cuisine of the region and are highly recommended.
This is the perfect location for walking and cycling. Positioned close to the Subbetica Park and the Sierras de Alcaide, everything is right on your doorstep. Francisco, the owner of the property, is a local walking guide and a mine of information on the local area. For those who prefer sightseeing Priego de Cordoba is only a ten minute drive. The Alhambra in Granada and the Mezquita in Cordoba are an hour away. Seville and Malaga an hour and a half.
You may prefer to simply relax by the pool or enjoy a coffee in the bar, soak up the sunshine and watch the slow pace of Andalucian life roll on by.

Location

Zagrilla Alta, Andalucía, Spain

The house is on two floors, with the kitchen and living dining room downstairs, the three bedrooms (one double and two twins) and the bathroom upstairs. There is an extra little room upstairs which may be used too, if two single bedrooms are prefered to one of the twins. There is a small walled patio at the back of the house, where children can play safely.

Francisco, the owner, who also speaks good English and French, will tell you absolutely everything you could want to know about the Subbética de Córdoba: from the best walking or riding routes to its best restaurants and museums. Few people are more knowledgeable - or enthusiastic - about the region. He has compiled an impressive housebook, full of useful information about the area.

From the house you can enjoy the view over the Sierra Alcaide, and all around the surroundings of pretty Zagrilla are superb and unspoilt. The streets of the hamlet follow the ancient Arabic pattern, irregularly following the contours of the mountain range. Many of the villagers still do their washing at the communal lavadero, an age-old tradition which involves simultaneous scrubbing and chatting over the ever-flowing, crystalline spring waters. In this wonderful landscape, peace is a word which readily comes to mind;
