**About that Corona virus.** If you still need to travel, a single family home to yourself is relatively safe! Intense cleaning protocol is being practiced. All surfaces are disinfected between reservations, and all linens are washed, including bedspreads and throw pillows, everything. The Duck 'N' Roll inn is a 3 bedroom home situated on a urban duck farm. A combination of contemporary features and old-time cottage charm will keep you comfortable and cozy while you enjoy Detroit's east side.

The space
The Duck 'N' Roll Inn has been a home to journalists, documentary filmmakers, artists, performers, urban planners and explorers, and this year, a temporary home for families reuniting. It's been a joy to teach the kids about the ducks!

The "Duck 'N' Roll Inn" is an eclectic farmhouse on an urban duck farm, officially known as Laid In Detroit. The farm provides pasture raised duck eggs to Rock City Eatery, as well as local residents. Located in the easy-going east side, Laid In Detroit was voted "Best Inner City Duck Farm" by the staff of the Metro Times. Though it's not so much an "inner city" vibe as it is a laid back oasis amongst urban sprawl. It encompasses 6 city lots full of trees and garden,

The house has 3 bedrooms--a nautical room, and kid friendly room, and a spacious bedroom known as "the disco room," which features a large skylight, a woodburning stove, enormous chalk boards, and a sound system with a disco ball so that it doubles as a dance floor!

There is one full bath with an extra wide jacuzzi tub, as well as a half bath on the first floor. The property also features a steel bbq in the form of a dinosaur, an adobe pizza oven on site, as well as panoramic views of the gardens and the ducks frolicking in the pasture.

We have a new addition to the farm! Meg, the livestock guardian dog is keeping us safe from predators and prowlers. Great Pyrenees guardian dogs are known for their friendly, gentle demeanor, as well as their superior livestock guarding abilities. When you meet her, give her a biscuit and a pat. She loves guests! (By the way, the dog is off limits to the house unless invited! No worries if you are allergic or not an animal lover.)

The house is full of character with a large kitchen and dining area. The property also has many ecological features, such as a green roof over the duck coop. Your stay here will not only be relaxing and fun, but educational as well.

Typical guests who have really enjoyed the Duck 'N' Roll Inn are artists, urban gardening fans, photographers, journalists, film makers, animal lovers, students, musicians, world travelers and anyone with an adventurous mindset.

You can also rest easy knowing that the money from your reservation is going directly to a small farm business in a developing neighborhood in Detroit.

Laid In Detroit has hosts many events, including an annual Easter party for the kids.

Guest access
You have private access to the whole house as well as the backyard. I share a backyard with you, so just don't show up and shine a flashlight in my windows and walk into my house, like someone already did once. ;)

Cornerstone Village, once a stable working class neighborhood founded by Belgian immigrants (some refer to it as "the Belgian triangle") has also been affected by the recent mass exodus from Detroit. But a strong coalition of homeowners with deep roots in the community have held things together.

You will encounter some blight and vacant homes in the neighborhood. I am currently waiting for three of them to get knocked down on my street. Hoefully it will happen soon in 2019. There are characters, and oftentimes people are out and about, playing music and socializing, but it is a friendly neighborhood. All guests have had a safe experience here. I haven't had a single incident of crime since I started hosting in 2012.

There are many great restaurants nearby, as well as bars, pubs, and grocery stores. The Cadieux Cafe and Ye Olde Tap Room have been around for a century. Trader Joe's and Kroger grocery are within walking distance.
