This is a wonderful basement apartment. Plenty of room and a nice walking path out back. We walked 2 miles almost every morning. A nice quiet neighborhood with lots of kids to watch play. We spent the entire month of August here.

My wife and daughter had to travel by themselves to MN and we were very fortunate to find Renell's place for their four day stay.  Here is my wife's review: I'm VERY PICKY. That's not an exaggeration. I had multiple communications with Renell before actually booking the location.  I was looking for clean, quiet and safe.  The pictures don't do Renell's place justice.  Her house is in a great and safe neighborhood. The actual lower level where we stayed at is not modern and new, but it was clean, large and comfy.  Our favorite part was taking showers. The water pressure was good and the actual shower room is an enclosed sauna. Although we didn't use the sauna, the showers were always something we looked forward to. Renell's communication before, during and after the trip were spot on.   Although I was concerned about the place being carpeted, Renell maintains the carpets clean. They had just been cleaned before we arrived.  Lighting is great with windows in every area. The views from the windows are out to her front yard and back yard... all luscious and green.  Towels were nice and not having a tv forced us to go outside and enjoy Northfield! The trails behind her home were great to walk along and get some exercise and see some more beautiful homes. If you stay, you have to use the hammock in the back yard.  My daughter loved it and read for long periods of time. Renell happened to be home (upstairs) during our stay, but although we heard some steps here and there above us, she was always respectful of keeping any noise down.  We slept well, felt safe and loved how close everything is to her home.  There is a small electric heater that was great to have for some chilly eves/mornings.  We happened to have a car, so everything was within 10 minutes or less of a drive.  It was convenient to have a Walgreens really close by for those small things that we might have forgotten or needed in addition to what we packed. There was also a Caribou Coffee location nearby where we were able to get a quick bite to eat in the mornings. Both St. Olaf College and Carleton College were within a 10 minute drive or less from Renell's place. Downtown Northfield was great!  There were so many unique shops and some good eats. We enjoyed having dinner at the Tavern twice during our stay.  Perhaps the BEST part of our trip was RENELL herself. We were fortunate enough to meet her and we connected immediately.  We know, from other comments on the reviews, that she's a great host. But, we became more than acquaintances. She's actually an amazing individual and she made our successful trip to Northfield even more memorable.  My daughter and I will continue a friendship with Renell- hopefully for the rest of our lives.   We were very sad to leave...  Northfield is quaint, beautiful, quiet and...

Renell's garden level apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was the perfect place for my family of four to stay during my daughter's graduation at Carleton. Renell was an excellent host. She's helpful, fun and easy to contact. We really enjoyed our stay!

Renell is a great host with a ton of local knowledge. Her house is on a quiet cul de sac very close to downtown Northfield and with a walking trail just out the back door. Her place is cozy and warm and her dog is adorable. We really enjoyed our stay there!
