It's in a great location, nearby downtown, yet the street is calm and quiet. The house itself is very charming in its antiquity, and the house cat Jax was a friendly character. Jill made sure check-in was smooth yet private, it was a great experience.

Jill's house was beautiful, clean & centrally located. Everything was exactly as described in the post. Jax the cat stayed at the house while we were there but was very self sufficient & was a lovely addition to our stay. He's a wonderful cat! I would definitely stay again and wo…

The place was certainly lovely. Her welcome package was extremely informative. The house retained its heritage character yet has modern amenities. There were some issues. Firstly the booking process was complicated by an incorrectly listed price due to the host not setting up t…

Response from Jill:
Hi David, I hope you had a good stay in Victoria and apologize for any inconvenience you may have had. I appreciate your taking the time to give a fair description of your experience. It will be helpful to other travelers and I've added a few notes here below just to avoid any confusion. In terms of bookings, I have 2 listings, one for a room in my house when I'm here, and the other to rent the entire house. You are the first booking enquiry where there's been any confusion around price and I want to point out that I did notice it right away, declined your request and gave you the option to book the whole house for 5 guests at the right price. Re your check in date, this was my error. I do take my responsibilty as a host seriously so of course I found a solution for you to stay in the house for your whole stay as booked (and fortunately found a neighbour to feed Jax). I am glad we were able to resolve that within 10 minutes of discovering the problem and that you did not spend any time waiting for access to the house. Other than my confusing text, your booking happened exactly how you planned it. Re Jax. Glad to hear he was good with your 15 month old and thanks for his excellent review! btw Jax does not automatically come with the house and his hosting presence is discussed before the acceptance of each booking. He is moved for longer term stays or upon request. I like him to stay in the house when it's appropriate as it's hard for cats to move around a lot. The Neighbourhood. Vista Heights/Quadra Village is the most ethnically diverse neighbourhood in a non diverse city. House prices start at $500,000 and go up to a million dollars within 2 blocks. And by the Gluten Free Cafe and high end liquor store with fine wines that have come into this neighbourhood, real estate agents target it as a neighbourhood on the rise. Even though I put in an alarm system when I moved, I never feel compelled to use it. I had expensive construction tools outside during a renovation for 3 months which were never stolen, and a bike that was unlocked for 2 weeks that was not stolen. But there are many great neighbourhoods in Victoria to choose from and they all have a different flavour. Re street noise. Many of my friends from Vancouver comment that they feel like they are sleeping in the country at my house that the street is so quiet. Sounds like unfortunately you had an unusal party night happening on your watch. That's happened only twice to me in the year and a half I've lived here. I hope any inconvenience you had won't deterr you from wanting to stay again. And I appreciate your good natured communciations throughout the mishaps. All the best, Jill
