5-STAR LOCATION | Sleeps two separately in railway-style bunks. Excellent WiFi. Breathtaking views of Table Mountain over park, with the whole city at your feet & in walking distance. High up in Art Deco security block in Queen Victoria St Embassy District.

The space

Astonishing Table Mountain views with 1930's railways-style interior, including original bunk-bed fixtures, genuine africana volk artefacts and original "Duros" Art Deco furniture. Sleeps two separately, whether couple or co-travelers. Every detail original and authentic in one of the best possible locations in the city.

Guest access

The whole place is yours, with the city centre and gardens at your feet. Fully-equipped kitchenette with period General Electric cooker. Old-school bathroom with teak toilet seat, full bath with shower over. Two original bunk bed features are concealed behind curtains. Couples love them, but also great for co-travelers to sleep separately.

Interaction with guests

We do also live in the building (best address in the city), so our 'insider' advice is just a phone-call or text message away - but we'll stay out of your hair :)

Other things to note

Holyrood is one of the most famous and iconic Art Deco buildings in Cape Town, and has featured in articles, books and film.

There is no parking on premises, meaning you'll fend for parking on the street - which is safe in our street. Parking is metered during the day only, and not on Sundays.

A TV monitor is provided to watch own media and three local channels provided.

Second stay here and it was as good, if not better, than before! Good wifi was a great addition to amenities.

Wonderful host, great apartment, fantastic location. You'll be right next to a bunch of good restaurants and bars, it's a nice neighborhood. The apartment itself is all that could be wanted. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and it will be the first place I look next time I'm planning a trip to Cape Town

This flat is nice, small and ONLY OFFERS 1 BED - the second "bed" is in fact a narrow couchette with difficult access via mobile step ladder. It is not right to announce it as a 2 BEDS and Airbnb should prevent future clients to be trapped if they don't read all details of presentation, remaining superficially to the head line of description.... And when Robert is called by a client he should give him absolute priority... not tell him to call later as he is in gasoline station !!!

Response from Robert:
Pierre has poor communication skills that are frustrating for both host and guest alike, and he struggles to both read and speak, or take the simplest directions. Pierre phoned in a panic because he couldn't get into the building, which most guests feedback to me as the easiest part of their stay. Of course Pierre simply did not read the simple instructions. Pierre phoned me in a petrol station where the pump attendant told me not to answer the phone. I nevertheless took his call and told him I'd phone him right back, but Pierre seemed to hear something else. Pierre was ultimately upset and surprised (once he made it inside, despite himself) to find a set of two bunk beds - as was described in the listing, and also clearly depicted in the photographs of the listing. Of course Pierre wanted a refund. Pierre is likely to be shocked and surprised by most things that happen to him, and is likely to come looking for money from you too. I would not recommend hosting Pierre under any circumstances.

The apartment is located in a really great location, within walking distance to restaurants, cafes, bars, etc and in a safe neighborhood. The apartment was very clean when we arrived and was equipped with everything you need for coffee in the morning or for cooking (if you desire). The interior design is unique and suits the apartment very well. It's a small and cozy place for two or three people. We had a rental car and found it easy to park on the street close to the apartment in the evenings or in a hotel garage nearby. The only downfall was the neighbor two floors down. We aren't quite sure how he was hearing us walking around or talking (not that we felt like we were being loud or anything) but he came up to our door several times to ask us to close the door very quietly/gently (again, not that we were slamming the door) and to complain that we were too loud. The neighbors on the same floor didn't say anything so we aren't sure what he was exactly seeing and hearing...

Response from Robert:
Amanda I'm really happy that the location and facilities worked so well for you. The flat is offered for up to two people, but I'm glad you found it large enough to potentially host a third. There are one or two elderly, retired people in the building - which keeps it really quiet and orderly, and which we regard as a blessing. Sometimes they can be a little over-zealous in checking in on new guests! :)
