Bay Cove is a large 1970s home with an open-living space, and all the basic needs of a vacation rental with an incredible view. We continue to improve this convenient and simple, spacious, 4 bed, 2.5 bath, clean and comfortable home on the bay.
This is a conveniently located, single story, 3 bedroom home with a view on the bay. This home has room to sleep 8 very comfortably, and includes a new queen bed as the fourth bed in a den attached to the living room. One bedroom has an attached full bath, and two bedrooms have an attached shared full bath, and another half bath is located off the kitchen. The kitchen is huge, but basic and simple with everything you need for food preparation, and lots of counter space and dining options. The kitchen has most any appliance you need. The washer and dryer are located on the end of this large kitchen/utility room. The living room is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the ever-changing bay, beaches, Charleston harbor and tidal mud flats on the property directly below the house. The property has access via a 500 foot walk along Cape Arago Hwy. to over a mile of nearly private beaches and many acres of clam-filled mud flats, a wetland teeming with waterfowl, and acres of diverse habitat providing for numerous bird species. Located near the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve; this property is within .25 miles of a public launch for a kayak paddle into the reserve. The home is simple, convenient and comfortable with everything you need. All beds are comfortable and include microfiber mattress covers for your protection. The living room is cozy with a wood burning stove and large new TV. There is a small two cottage duplex on the same property which is rented separately, and the owners often live in one side of the duplex.
The guests have access to the entire home, deck, and lawn areas. There is a small cottage duplex on the property, and a small outdoor patio and fire pit, that may be shared, if other guests are present, or the cottages may be rented in conjunction with the home for larger group gatherings.
Interaction with guests
Our interaction with guests is totally dependent on the desires of our guests. We have lived in and loved the area for many years, and we are happy to visit with and share our suggestions for local attractions and activities, and assist in any way we can to make our guest's stay more pleasant. If you are looking for privacy in a convenient and beautiful location, we will respect your wishes, and only the most minimal interaction necessary for your needs will occur.
Other things to note
Bay Cove is our current home, which we recently acquired, very close to our other home of 15 years. We are a retired couple, and Bay Cove Properties are a work in progress, as we continue to improve the property and include a variety of vacation rental options. We will assist you in any way we can during your stay, and we love to visit with fellow travelers.
Bay Cove is a place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings of the area, and possibly the company of the hosts or other guests. If you are looking for a place for a loud party and lots of people, there are many other places much more suitable for that. We strive to provide a simple, clean, quiet place for guests to rest and prepare for all the activities and attractions our area has to offer. This property is not suitable for large parties, and events are not allowed on the property.
People other than those in the guest party indicated in reservation may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest.
No camping is permitted on the property unless previous arrangements are made, and the owner is fully informed on all aspects of a camping request.
No smoking is allowed anywhere on the property. Evidence of smoking will result in the loss of your security deposit.
Pets are NOT allowed anywhere on the property. Violation of this rule will result in the loss of your damage deposit.
Crab cooking indoors is not allowed. We provide a large pot and a propane cooker for outdoor cooking, to avoid lingering odors from indoor crab cooking.
Please don't deposit crab or clam shells in the trash, as they can get very odoriferous before our weekly trash pick-up. We provide a bucket by the trash for discarded seafood shells, and we return them to the beach.
To help protect floors, we would appreciate outdoor shoes off, when in the house.

We are a retired couple, John a federal wildlife biologist, Candy a swim coach and airline employee, and both former Nebraska farmers.
We consider ourselves adventurous, spontaneous, budget travelers and love meeting new people to share travel experiences. Whenever we get a chance to get far away, we try to go as travelers, instead of as tourists. We have traveled throughout SE Asia, Micronesia, Australia, Central America, Mexico, U.S. and Ireland.
We recently moved into a home that has become a great place to share with others in beautiful Charleston, on the southern coast of Oregon. We also enjoy all outdoor activities, beach-combing, birdwatching, hiking, kayaking and just observing the wonders of nature.
