  • Jon was incredibly helpful and took a lot of time to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. He had some great advice on where to eat on a budget in the area and also had a genuine interest in the places we had seen along the way during our stay in Iceland.
The room was warm, cosy and very clean. We often walked into Reykjavik which only took 15-20 minutes.
We could not have asked for a better host, location and room.
Thanks a lot Jon & Olof

  • When I came there I only met Jón. He is a really nice person and was very helpful! The room was small but it is perfect for one person! The room is seperated from the flat so you have your privacy. There is a toilet on the floor, to take a shower you have to go upstairs into the flat, maybe you should ask before you go inside ;)

To get downtown you have to take the bus which takes you five minutes to Hlemmur, this is the bus stop close to Laugavegur.

  • Oolaf and Jon were very hospitable. The room was perfect for my friend and I. We felt very welcomed by the family and they helped us with our travel plans. They even lent is a cell phone which was very helpful! We stayed for 2 weeks and would definitely stay here again!

  • Olof and Jon were great. The room is very small, perfect for one person, but very tight if it were two. I didn't mind the washroom being down the hall; I never saw anyone else. (I was there for three nights.)

I walked downtown everyday; it took about 30 minutes and the route is easy and direct. Perlan is also an easy walk, about 30 minutes, too. You can take lots of different routes.

The low fee is really the best thing about this room as Iceland is very expensive. Well, it's a tie actually as Olof and Jon are really awesome, too.

The staircase to the room is tight and steep, so if you have any mobility concerns, you'll need to think twice.

  • Very friendly and always ready to help! We have a great time. Also apartment was very good!

  • Jon and Olof are fantastic hosts. We stayed with them for four nights and they were very friendly and very willing to help us out with any questions we had and very accommodating of our needs.
The room has everything you would need and is warm and nice and bright. The bed is super comfy and the fridge came in very handy. The surrounding area is very pleasant and has all the amenities you would expect and the geothermally-heated pool at Laugardalslaug (15 mins walk away) is a must for any visitor to the area!
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laugardalur and would recommend to anyone considering a trip. Thank you Olof and Jon! :)

  • After renting Jón's and Ólöf's room for a month, I cannot do anything but to praise and thank both of them for their hospitality and generosity. The room lives up to the expectations one establishes from its online presentation, but the the hosts exceed any expectation one might have. During the past month I never experienced anything but help and goodwill - Jón and Ólöf were always willing to answer questions and inquiries, give advices on what to do and where to go, and even, I felt, went out of their way to assist a confused foreigner with pragmatic problems. I do not think I received a "no" from them at any point. Conclusively, I can only recommend their room in Laugardalur.

  • We travelled a lot and never felt this welcome before.
Ólöf, Jón and the two kids are very kind and the first thing that helped us - and impressed people from the flybus - was the booklet they sent in advance. We followed many of the hints and got one of the best sushi for the least price we ever paid (not only in Iceland).
The distance to downtown is not too far and we felt lucky to experience an authentic Icelandic lifestyle instead of just staying in a hotel/guesthouse right in the citycenter.
The room is spacious enough for all our luggage. The bed is very comfortable. The provided breakfast (toast, butter, cheese, ham and jam) as well as tea and instant coffee can be prepraed right in the room. The toilet is a few steps down the hallway but it was almost never occupied. Same goes for the bathroom right in their appartment.
If we wanted we had our privacy and could stay on our own as long as we wanted but at the same time if we had any question they took a lot of time to aswer them.

  • Olof and Jon were extremely helpful and accommodating. They gave us a GPS to use and helped us book buses. The room was very cozy and comfortable. I would definitely stay with Olof and Jon again and would highly recommend staying with them to anyone.

  • We had a really good stay with Jon and Olof in Iceland.
The room was well equipped and it was nice to have a few essentials waiting for us in the fridge.
It was no hassle sharing a bathroom as we tended to use it once the family had left the apartment.
We took the location of the apartment as an opportunity to walk to and from town to see a bit more of the local area.

We've travelled to Italy, Spain (Barcelona), UK, Denmark, Norway and US (Florida). We like running and living healthy lifestyle. We love traveling in Iceland. I myself have visited every single town in the country! Every year we go into the wilderness and pick up many pounds of wild blueberries, I'm a great cook, my specialties are making mexican food, indian food and complex cakes. We bicycle to our work as often as possible, but sometimes it snows and then we have to use our car. I love playing soccer, I like the way Arsenal and F.C. Barcelona play. We both studied playing violin for over 10 years. We bought our first apartment last year, a 4 bedroom apartment.
