A nice cabin, fully furnished, sleeps 3 or 4 comfortably in quiet rural eastern Texas near lake Kurth and north of Lufkin in piney woods in tiny spread out community.

The space

Quiet location, few neighbors around, Angelina river access a couple hundred yards away.
It takes about 15 minutes (5.2 miles) to get here from highway 59. Lake Kurth is 7 minutes away (public boat ramp). (website hidden) its rules on city of Lufkin public site.

Guest access

Forest, Angelina river, lake Kurth (need to get a fishing license), privacy and solitude.

Interaction with guests

We'll likely interact with the guest but only if we are in town. Otherwise we provide detailed instructions on how to access everything in the cabin.

Other things to note

The place has city water and sewer, electric power, A/C (it is a heat pump and works as heater as well), instant (on demand) water heater, standard toilet, shower and sink. Kitchen has fridge, electric stove, microwave and all kitchenware (plates, glasses, silverware), pots, pans, coffee maker, tea pot, etc. There is flat screen TV (with DVD player and many DVD movies), older Xbox console with 9-10 games but no internet (cell phone LTE internet works well with major such as AT&T carriers) and only two local channels (English ABC and Spanish). We were not able to find/get a cable/satellite/internet provider to service the cabin without cutting many nearby trees to get the satellite view.

This was a charming little cottage. It was perfect for my visit with my grand baby and gave us room to move around instead of being cramped at a hotel room. Very nice and quiet in the woods. Eugene even had my favorite coffee available too, which was a bonus! (Gevalia) It's a great place to get away from it all and spend quality time with your loved one without the disruption of phones and internet :) I do however, have AT&T so I had internet and phone service while there, it was just a bit limited.

This was a quaint little place. Great to get away and just a little off the beaten path!

If you like peace and quiet this is the place to be. Definitely a remote location, on a county road approximately seven miles into the woods. On the way to the cottage you will pass several farms, some with horses others with Texas Long Horn cattle. The cottage is well equipped with an air conditioner and a dehumidifier. There is also limited TV and many DVDs to choose from. Video games are also available. The queen size bed is very comfortable and even has hot water, ample towels and many other accessories to numerous to mention. All-in-all my wife and I were totally satisfied and considered the fee very reasonable. There is more offered in this little cottage than you will expect.

Cabin is very well furnished with all the imaginable necessities. Good deal if you are looking for a cozy quiet place to stay to read and get together. Imp: T-Mobile doesn't have reception there, you have to walk 1/4 of a mile. The kruth lake, which nearby is completely inaccessible to general public.

I truely enjoyed my stay at this location. I was truely surprised at how much effort the host put forth into making sure our needs were met and then some. To make things better, I got to see fireflies for the first time in many years. The Xbox was also a blessing for two parents whose child tired of nature faster than we did.

This was a charming little cabin in the woods. A wonderful place to watch the birds and collect ones thoughts.
