West Dorset is one of the most Beautiful and interesting parts of England, so much so that it is often used for film and television locations, Far From The Madding Crowd, Broadchurch, River Cottage, Tamara Drewe, The French Lieutenant's Woman and Harbour Lights, to name a few. The history and archaeology of the area are very interesting and the coast is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic coast. Lyme Regis with its ancient harbour and connection with the Monmouth Rebellion is a must. Bridport is a lively town with a brilliant street markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
There are many pubs and restaurants, an Art s Centre and an original Art Deco cinema and the Lyric Theatre which has many children's events and puppetry entertainments as well as interesting plays.
