Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
This spacious jellybean row house puts you just a couple of blocks from downtown restaurants & gift shops, plus it's closer to George Street than the popular Sheraton Hotel. Also steps from lovely Bannerman Park, which features plenty of grassy areas to lounge on, a splash pad, free swimming pool, modern playground, canteen, plus an ice skating loop in the winter. It's a best-of-both-worlds location, both quiet and close to the park, but only a 10-15 minute walk from all the downtown nightlife!

The space
Accessibility note: There is a set of stairs to climb as soon as you open the front door, to get to the main level with kitchen/living room and one bedroom, then another flight to get to the three top floor bedrooms.

If stairs are not a problem for your group, this space is a treat whether you're a solo traveller or a large group of family or friends. With lots of hot water in the 2 showers, large eating areas, and many distinct spaces to lounge in throughout 2 floors of the home, you will never feel too crowded, even at full capacity with 8.

Also, a huge bonus is off-street parking! Perfect if you plan on having a rental car. Downtown parking in residential areas can be a headache, requiring special permits and no guarantees of parking close by. You, on the other hand, won't need to worry about that at all! Just pull right up to the door in the driveway at the end of your day of adventures. :)

Last but not least, there is local pizza, beer and gelato available right in your neighbourhood. Venice Pizza is a delicious treat, and corner stores in Newfoundland are allowed to sell beer, so look no further than the corner store called Needs on this block if you are a beer fan! Plus The Parlour is a locally-run gelato/coffee shop right across from beautiful Bannerman Park, a must on any neighbourhood stroll.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire 2-floor apartment, including a private front-load washer and dryer, free wi-fi, and a smart TV featuring Netflix, news, sports, weather, and social media apps.

Other things to note
As a breakfast option, I provide a recipe in our house guide for apple cinnamon pancakes and all the ingredients to make them: pancake mix, cinnamon, fresh apples and syrup. We also provide a welcome basket with a few snacks to get you started before you pick up groceries. :)

Along with tea and coffee, the house is also stocked with basic cooking supplies like olive oil, a full spice rack, sugar, salt, pepper, and condiments like ketchup & mustard.

Neighbourhood highlights

I know everyone says this about their own neighbourhood, but this neighbourhood really has it all. You are just behind a convenience store which is really, er, convenient, for anything from a dozen eggs to beer, and one block from the city's best pizza (Venice Pizzeria!). Across the street is the incredible Bannerman Park, featuring a giant playground, splash pad and free outdoor pool! And in the winter there is SKATING! Really just perfect for families and anyone wanting to enjoy some greenspace. You can also check out The Parlour across from the park for delicious coffee, gelato and baked goods. All this, literally within 100 metres from your front door.

Plus, you are mere minutes from walking into the heart of downtown to explore Duckworth Street, Water Street and the famous George Street, which offer up all the restaurants, bars and shops you'd ever want. During the summer months, the downtown core is also transformed into an afternoon pedestrian mall lovely for dinner and drinks or simply a nice stroll through our historic downtown streets.

My work: Owner, Jellybean Dream
My passion for hosting started in May, 2015 when I welcomed my first Airbnb guests into my upstairs apartment. Little did I know then, it would become something I enjoyed so much that I would make it my full-time career. Eight months later, I left my job in marketing & communications and the rest is history. Today this has grown into my company, Jellybean Dream, where it's a true joy to welcome hundreds of Airbnb guests to my beautiful province of Newfoundland annually. I was born and raised right here in our capital city of St. John's, and one of my favourite things about meeting so many captivating people from all over the world is seeing my city through their eyes - a fresh perspective on how truly lucky I am to call this place home! With two kids to take on new adventures here, I love learning how other people explore and enjoy this gem of an island. In November, 2016, I attended the Airbnb Open in LA and fell in love even more with what Airbnb has built - the sense of global community, the notion of belonging anywhere you go, and the thousands of lifelong friendships being made along the way. I have met some incredible people through Airbnb since 2015, and I can genuinely tell you I am so excited for all the people I have yet to meet! Come and stay, I'd love to welcome you here! :)
