Private 2 Bdrm in Central Vancouver

House - Entire home/apt · Nanaimo St, Vancouver, BC V5N 2H8, Canada

The Space

2 Bedroom private apartment on main level of a house, in a nice quiet neighbourhood in East Vancouver, located directly beside beautiful Trout Lake Park.

ATTENTION FAMILIES & SMALL GROUPS! This unit can accommodate up to a maximum of 6 people (Bedding is One Queen Size Bed + 2 double size pull-out futons).

NOTE: Light Continental Breakfast is Included in Your Stay! For specific details on what I include in the 'Light Continental', please refer to paragraph #3 in the 'House Rules' section.

3 Blocks from Skytrain which runs westbound into downtown (15 minutes) or eastbound into the suburbs.

The unit is approx 900 sq ft total and is very clean and tidy. It has good open spaces and is uncluttered. Slightly funky (not overdone) atmosphere and decorated with a few keepsakes from my world travels.

1st Bedroom features super-comfy (I mean really, the BEST bed I have ever slept on!) queen size. The 2nd bedroom is currently being used as a Den with 48 inch bigscreen TV available for your use (with internet, NetFlix etc) but it does have a double futon that can fold out to accommodate 2 persons. There is also a 2nd futon in the living room for up to 2 more people. I have recently purchased some foamy mattress covers for both of the futons and they are now VERY comfortable!

Free washer/dryer, free parking for (up to) 2 (small) vehicles or 1 large vehicle (on the property) and unlimited street parking out front. Wireless internet included, small deck with BBQ underneath (which you are welcome to use, weather permitting of course) + front and backyard space. Apartment comes with all of the predictable household fixings including fully equipped kitchen, fresh towels and linens provided etc.

Please allow me to introduce you to the 2 newest members of my family: Two, 80's style' stand up arcade games!! (Please see pictures) One machine has 138 games and the other has 276 games (but soon to be upgraded to 410 because 276 isn't enough! :)
This is all the classic 80's stuff: All of the Pac-Mans, Donkey Kongs, Frogger, Double Dragon and on and on. Unlimited free plays provided of course!! (**Disclaimer to the wives and girlfriends: I cannot be held responsible for strain put on your relationship due to your husband's or boyfriend's Ms. Pac-Man binges. You've been warned! :)

1 Skytrain stop away from funky locals neighborhood (Commercial Drive). I will offer to leave an info sheet for tips (or we can just chat about it in person, whichever you prefer) on what to do, where to go, basic transit tips and how to 'do as the locals do' for your visit, including money saving tips on restaurants and shopping. Vancouver doesn't have to be expensive if you have local knowledge on your side.

Additional Fun Stuff: A record player is also in the living room. A few books and magazines available for your browsing. If you like, I will leave out my acoustic guitar for your strumming pleasure.

*Please Note I have provided some additional, very specific information about my property and what to expect during your stay in the 'House Rules' section. I suggest that you read through this information so that you are well informed about your upcoming stay. Details in this section were largely culled from helpful feedback from previous guests, so they will probably be relevant for you too!

  • All good with our stay. Gerald met us when we arrived and showed us around. He provided a fruit bowl and banana bread. Location is next to a park and walking distance from Commercial Drive and the Skytrain. Only takes about 10 minutes by train to get to Gastown. Definitely would recommend, great value for the $$.

  • We enjoyed our stay in Vancouver very much. The location was perfect for us! Our son's enjoyed the video games, and we had a good (website hidden) was nice to have great coffee and fruit available for breakfast. Enjoyed the home made banana bread too. Felt perfectly safe there. Thanks for the use of your home. Joyce

  • Gerald's place was perfect for 5 of us traveling together - tho it could have even fit a few more. Super casual and fun atmosphere very close to a park for those who like an early morning run or to just be outside. Less than 20 minutes walk to the SkyTrain, it is very convenient if you want to explore downtown on foot. We played board games and enjoyed the vintage video games too. Even with 4 or 5 of of us showering every morning, we never ran out of hot water! The big bowl of fruit was used every morning and we also enjoyed the french press coffee (there is a grinder so you can have really fresh stuff). Gerald was a super accommodating, friendly, and attentive host. We really felt right at home. We recommend to everyone needing an entire home to rent!

  • My Mom and I stayed at Gerald's place and it was perfect! We were provided with a bowl of fresh fruit, coffee, tea and fantastic banana bread. We were really comfortable staying there and the local transit called Sky train was 3 blocks away with connections to town and the airport. I will definitely be returning there for my next stay in Vancouver. Thanks for hosting us Gerald!

  • Everything was great when we stayed at Gerald's place. The house itself was very clean, spacious, and overall very pleasant to stay in--easy to get to by car (with a parking spot available on the property) and only a few blocks walk to the Skytrain which is super convenient if you're headed to the city center.

Gerald gave us the grand tour of the place and left behind some fruits, coffee, and cake for us to enjoy during our stay which was very much appreciated. The arcade machines in the house were also a huge plus (be careful: it's easy to end up spending your entire stay here playing these games!). He made it clear to us that he was available 24/7 but everything worked out super smoothly without any problems. Would definitely recommend Gerald's place to anybody looking to stay in Vancouver.

  • Gerald was a great host. Really felt at home here. Description of house is accurate - and yes, it is the most comfortable bed in the universe. Will definitely re-book this house next time we're in Vancouver.

  • If you want a pristine, glistening, fresh-out-of-a-magazine-photo-spread kind of place, this isn't for you. If you want a place that feels like a working-class home in a regular neighborhood, where you can kick off your shoes and put your feet up on the coffee table, this IS the place for you. Relaxed, slightly bachelor-style funky, Gerald's home offers good value for money, and he is a very responsive, flexible, considerate host. The 5 us (a couple and 3 singletons) were comfortable and never felt cramped or crowded. We appreciated the ample, accessible and free parking, especially since we were in Vancouver for an African drumming workshop and were dragging gear back and forth, often coming back late at night after a long a draining day at classes. We also appreciated the endless supply of hot water, the free laundry facilities, the muffins and fruit (very handy for the rushed mornings and snacks for breaks), and the well-equipped kitchen. We had everything we needed at a great price!

I am a mid-thirties professional male who has lived in Vancouver, Canada for 14+ years. I love my city and I take pride in helping people enjoy their stay at my place and everything that Vancouver has to offer. I have done allot of international travelling myself and love AirBnB as a way to help encourage people from near and afar to get out and see the world. AirBnB helps guests get a more 'genuine' experience by doing it the way the locals do and I'm happy to be a part of that. During your stay I will be happy to come around and have a chat about your travels and give you good tips on what to do, what to see and where to go for great dining, shopping etc. (and how t o save money while doing it all!), or if you prefer I will give you 100% privacy and let you do your own thing. I'm a hobby musician and like to strum my guitar. I guarantee you and I will get along!
