Our newly converted flat is situated in the heart of historic Bradford on Avon, between a quaint tearoom and a lovely restaurant. The light, airy upstairs bedroom has a comfy double bed, and there is also a sofa bed in the open plan living room / kitchen, only really suitable for children, as it is quite small.
Welcome to our one bedroom flat in the newly renovated Georgian Lodge. We take it in turns to work here during the week, so tend to let the flat out for long weekends - Thursday to Monday, for example. However, we can be flexible about this, so do ask if you would like to stay for longer, or mid-week.
Our flat is through the archway you can see in the photo of The Georgian Lodge; our main window overlooks the communal courtyard. This means that while the flat does not have the immediate view of BoA, it is much quieter than it would be if it were facing the road.
Once through the archway we are accessed via some stone steps, so we do not feel the flat will be suitable for the elderly or infirm. There is also a pane of glass in the bedroom which could be hazardous for young children, so we will happily accommodate babies who are not yet mobile, but not inquisitive toddlers - our own son is now five and we're nervous of letting him near it!
The bed upstairs is a double, the sofa bed is a bit smaller than a double, so is really most comfortable for one child, though we have had fully grown adults sleep on it quite happily!
We would like our guests to feel completely at home, and so the cupboards will be stocked with basics such as tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil for cooking. We also supply milk and one or two bits and pieces for the beginning of each stay.
Other things to note
Please note some things which may be relevant to your choice of accommodation. Firstly, the mobile phone access in our flat is not good.
Also, Bradford on Avon is not an easy place to park in! There is free parking in the car park outside the Georgian Lodge on Sundays - a daily rate applies at other times. For more advice, please contact us.
Lastly, we are also open to longer term lets so if this is of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
This is a strictly non-smoking flat, and we also ask guests not to smoke in the communal courtyard, for the sake of our neighbours. Because it is a small, friendly community, we would be really grateful if guests could refrain from making too much noise, particularly after 10.30 pm and before 8.00 am.
Also, it seems to be customary for airbnb hosts to charge a fee for cleaning. We feel it's a bit cheeky asking for extra on top of what you've already paid! So we appreciate it if people could leave the flat clean and tidy.
We generally come and greet guests when they arrive, but we also have a key-safe so visitors can access the flat independently if we happen to be unavailable. We live very nearby and are on hand to provide any information needed for guests to get the most out of a visit to the area. We can also be contacted by phone or email should any issues arise.
