Lake view

Soak up the view during your stay.
Relax at this peaceful lakefront home at the end of the road. It is a perfect spot for families or several couples wanting a quiet getaway. Surrounded by woods, the only sound at night is from the loons on the lake.. There are two kayaks and a canoe available to explore the lake or paddle up to "Scapes" Cafe for breakfast or lunch. With over an acre of land and 250 feet of waterfront, there is plenty of room to play in the water, on the lawn, or make fairy houses in the woods.

The space
At the end of a mile long road, you are truly away from it all in the woods. There are lake houses along the road and lots of little kids playing, so driving at 10 - 15 miles an hour is expected. Our house sets at the very end of the road where the houses are further spaced out so you will be surrounded by woods and barely see the other neighbors except maybe on the water. Drive past the signs that say private drive where the road does a couple of curves, and then you will have a lovely stretch of woods before you reach our place at the end of the road.

We are the last house on the right at the dead end circle.

The house is a split level with the stairs inside the door leading up to the open concept kitchen/dining/living area, bathroom and upper deck. The stairs down lead to the TV sitting area, three bedrooms, and lower JJ deck. The lower deck wraps around the house and has two doors that go out onto it, one from the sitting room and one from bedroom number 2, which is the largest bedroom and could accomodate both the kid cot and the adult cot for families. The futon couch in the upstairs living room area easily folds down to accomodate two adults. There is a full kitchen stocked with all necessary items: cookware, plates, glasses, silverware, spices, toaster, coffee maker and French press, blender, microwave oven, and even coffee and sugar.

Between the house and the lake is a large yard with a picnic table and fire pit, and plenty of room to run around or play the lawn games there. There is a canoe and two kayaks for use, plenty of adult and child life vests, and lots of water floats.

The woods along the lakefront are lovely to wander through and a wonderful place to make fairy houses with the kids.

Guest access
Access to all of the property.

Other things to note
Minnehonk Lake is a small lake, most suitable for wind or human-powered watercraft, or perhaps a boat with a small trolling motor. This means you don't have to listen to loud power boats all day. Our lake also has some of the cleanest, clearest water in Maine with no invasive plants. Make sure any boats you put in are free of any foreign plant matter.

Our house water is from a well which has been tested and is not from the lake so it is safe to drink.

We strive to make your stay pleasant and trouble free, but please be aware that nature sometimes has it's own agenda. We recommend keeping food stored in a way to discourage mice. They are likely to be looking for a nice warm home, especially in the fall. We do not leave out traps or poison because many of our guests have children or pets who could be harmed.

When there are lots of trees, power outages are a real possibility, especially if it is stormy during your stay. Outages usually are very short lived, but we do provide flashlights/lanterns and both the grill and stove can be operated without electricity.

Please note that we allow pets but they must be leashed or under voice control outside. There are neighbors and some small children around. Thanks!

Neighbourhood highlights

The road in has several houses with small children so please observe the 15 MPH posted speed.

There is plenty of parking available at the house for 3-4 cars. Please park up on the gravel area above the house and not down in the yard. With the mossy ground cover in spots, the ground can tear up easily. There are a couple of strips of wood that mark the end of the parking area up there. Beyond that is the leach field, and any car could do damage to it. Thank you.
