The Chapel is a 2,160 sf dormitory style alcohol free space for groups/families, at our camp on the San Marcos River.

Bedding provided for up to 20 people. You are welcome to bring extra bedding if you have more than 20 people. If you have more than 20 people there is an extra charge.

We also have a barn apartment with 2 twin beds, which can be made into a king size bed, as well as a day bed with trundle, as well as RV spaces near the chapel and a campground for groups.

The space
Bedding for 20 inside the air-conditioned chapel is provided: one full-sized futon, 16 twin beds, and two cots.

Additional guests (over the 20 for whom beds are provided) must provide their own bedding. If your group is larger than 20 people, an additional charge of $10/person/night (children 5 and under are free) will be added.

Restrooms (2) are located in a building outside of the chapel (see picture). Showers (4) and additional bathrooms (4) are located in the campground down the hill near the river.

There is a fire ring with a grill along with picnic tables in the yard outside of the chapel. There will be wood provided.

We can also accommodate 4 RV's for an additional fee with water and electrical hookups adjacent to the chapel.

Guest access
Guests have access to the riverfront campground which is conveniently located down the hill from the chapel. There are picnic tables throughout the campground (the campground is alcohol free). The fishing is great. Hanging out by the river in the morning is highly suggested as the river gets crowded in the late afternoon from tubers.

Other things to note
Always ask before floating the river. You need to know where you are going, how long the trip takes, how you are getting back and whether there are hazards.

We are a Mom and Pop campground who have been in operation here at the San Marcos River Retreat for 25 years with a passion for conservation and preserving the beauty in nature for the next generation. We started our love for the San Marcos River back in the '70s when we discovered it through the Texas Water Safari. From there to here has been quite an adventure of leading river trips all over North America, being a canoe and kayak distributor, competing in decades of Water Safari's, and finally settling into life running a campground for boy scouts, youth groups, and church groups. We hope you enjoy your stay with us and have a chance to share our love for the rivers in Texas and beyond.
