A totally unique house in a beautiful and historic part of the country. Perfect for romantic getaways, but can also sleep 10 for family get-togethers and fun DC weekend escapes. Huge kitchen, beautiful fireplace, all on 4 acres in the woods.

The space
Awesome geodesic dome house near historic Harpers Ferry. This house is truly unique, with a 25' ceiling, spiral staircase, lovely kitchen, huge living room, fireplace, and 2+ acres of woods!

Located just a little over an hour from DC, 3 hours from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and about 5 from NYC, the dome is only a half mile from the beautiful Shenandoah River and less than a mile from the Appalachian Trail. Historic Harpers Ferry is just four miles away, and Charles Town's Hollywood Casino and Loudon County vineyards are less than a fifteen-minute drive.

2 bedrooms and 2.5 full baths, a huge pullout couch, additional couches and air mattresses allow the place to accommodate anything from a romantic weekend for two to a house party of a dozen. Previous guests have included families, couples, eco-women retreaters and century-ride bikers.

Kitchen is fully equipped (pots/pans/dishes/baking equipment/etc...), as well as a breakfast table.

As mentioned in the title, this house is truly unique - its a geodesic dome house (bucky ball), with a beautiful full-wall mural, spiral staircase, and wrap-around deck with patio furniture and a charcoal grill. Just like a regular house but better!

The central fireplace can get the place really toasty (and romantic :) as an alternative to the fancy modern HVAC heating/cooling.

The dome also has a basement area with a ping pong table, large TV with Roku for movie night, and an extra bed, full bath, and extra futon. This space is only partially finished, but can help accommodate larger parties.

Dogs OK with permission but they must be VERY housebroken and stay off the furniture. Sorry, no cats (allergies :( ). For dogs there is a $50 additional pet fee payable in advance to me - if I don't have the check before the date of your stay, the pet is not allowed (sorry again, problems with previous renters).

Little kids are great too, but it should be noted that the house is not child-proofed, and has an exposed spiral staircase (so recommend no pets or small kids on the second floor). We have done what we could to child proof the upstairs and downstairs.

Feel free to contact me with questions about the place or the area - I wish I could get out there more often!

Guest access
everything except the laundry room/storage area of the house, and one downstairs closet (If guests are staying for more than 3 days, I can provide laundry access with advance permission).

Other things to note
Dogs OK with prior permission and $50 pet fee, payable to William Grayson by check in advance.

Its really peaceful and really close to the Appalachian Trail and Shenandoah River. Neighbors are really friendly and ready to help with all kinds of things - they live close by but they feel far enough away that its easy to have a very isolated weekend in the woods.
