Other things to note
Things to know:

* New for 2022, we have upgraded the cabins Wi-Fi service to a high-speed connection. There is cell phone service approx 8 minute drive back down the road into town and approx 15minutes drive at the turn off to Big White ski resort. No cell service at Idabel Lake. Wifi calling works with our new internet.

* No pets are allowed at this vacation rental.

* Parking notes: One outdoor open space available directly in front of the storage shed and private entrance to the cabin. More parking available near the lodge on a FCFS basis.

* Guest entry instructions: This rental utilizes an E-lock, a digital lock that requires a unique code to enter. This code is reset after each guest's stay. Enter the code and then the top button to open.

* The cabins all have treated water that is safe to drink and cook with (unless there is a boil water advisory). The water does have a slight yellow colour due to the surrounding mountains. As a courtesy we supply guests with a fresh 5 gallon jug of fresh filtered water on check-in.

Neighbourhood highlights

Cabin5Living is located in a small grouping of privately owned cabins and lodge units called Idabel Lake Resort.

Idabel Lake is a small wilderness community on the lake that is about 35minute drive from Kelowna. It is an awesome year round getaway from the city, it's quiet and serene.

In the winter, the lake is frozen and you can snowmobile, snowshoe, skate and cross country ski on it (depending on conditions of course).

In the summer there is great hiking in the mountains and to other nearby lakes. It is close to the Trans Canada bike trail so mountain biking is a favorite activity in the area. The swimming is lovely, and a bit cooler, but great on those hot summer days. Bring your own paddleboard, kayaks, canoes which you can tie up on the docks is the designated areas on a FCFS basis.

Idabel Lake is about a 10 minute drive past the Big White turnoff when heading from Kelowna towards Beaverdell. You turn right off highway 33 about 3 km past the Big White turn (to the left). You will see the signs for Idabel Lake Resort and the road is called McCullough Road where you turn right off the highway. At the next intersection you turn left and travel about 4 km until you see the sign to turn right for Idabel Lake Road (FYI if you continue straight on McCullough Road you come to Kelowna cross country ski club trails).

There is a games room in the lodge with ping pong, pool table, foosball, airhockey, checkers, big screen tv and puzzles.

Cell phones do not work at Idabel Lake. but we have new high speed WiFi at the cabin for wifi calling.

The resort is actually a bigger lodge with several units, a duplex and 8 cabins that are each privately owned. The name "resort" is a bit misleading :).

There are no grocery stores or restaurants at Idabel Lake, so you will want to have supplies with you.

There are lots of restaurants at Big White or in Kelowna. When you drive to Big White base, the gondola is free to get to the village where there are awesome restaurants in the winter and some even open in the summer.

The drive from the cabin to the Gem Lake Express Quad at Big White is a quick 20 minute drive. There is also a small lodge and bistro there at the base of the Gem Lake Ski lift.

We hope you will enjoy this wilderness treasure!

Lives in Kelowna, Canada
Hello, we are Barry and Stephanie from Kelowna, BC. We bought our cabin to enjoy with our 2 children, friends and family. We both work full-time while raising our little humans and unfortunately don't get to use the cabin as much as we would like during this busy time of our lives. We both love to travel and have seen many parts of the world. On our travels we have met some amazing people at the various hotels, hostels and B&B's, who always made us feel welcome and our experiences special. That is why we have decided to self manage our Cabin and open it up for others around the world to experience the peaceful and refreshing nature of Idabel Lake. We want to make each guests experience memorable and hope to have many guests make our cabin an annual vacation spot for their families.
