Economic option, studio with a balcony and a kitchenette. 15 min walk to downtown, and 10 to the hipster bar / cafe hoods. On Saturdays access to a rooftop sauna. Good for 1-2, possible for 3-4. Quiet area: no traffic, just seagulls :)

The space

The studio is 30m2, with lots of light and a nice balcony. Dark curtains to help you sleep in the summertime. Contact me for flexible check in/out.

I will rent out when I'm travelling or otherwise out, so it's like you're a friend who's staying at my place while I'm away. Actually, it's exactly that - original non-commercial airbnb style.

Sea is next door, but my window faces the city. There's a public sauna 100 metres away, where you can dip into the water, even in the coldest winter.

Contact me for check-in time and availability. Most likely I will be out of the country, and I will have to ask a friend or sibling to help you in. Besides English, I also speak Spanish and Portuguese :)

Guest access

You'll have the place to yourselves. I live here, so there's everything you need for cooking, including a small dish washing machine and an espresso maker. No TV, but fast wireless internet. Brand new washer-dryer machine.

Interaction with guests

I might be away, but either friendly neighbours or my siblings will help you, if needed. I will be online most of the time if you need me as well.

Other things to note

There's a 120cm*200cm bed, a sofa (not a sofa bed) and an air mattress, so you could fit three (to four) people, if you don't mind being a bit cramped. It is best for couples or solo travellers, though.

Esa's apartment was great, well situated, near the water so it was always a beautiful walk back to the place. He made us feel welcomed and had a touch for details and attentions. I strongly recommend to anyone a stay at his place.

I really enjoyed my time here. Came for the world junior hockey championships and stayed for 4 nights. Esa's place was walking distance to most central locations but because of the cold we took the street cars and metro (which were close enough). The apartment was clean and had everything one would need for a short stay. Esa even took the trouble to set up a second bed, as I was staying with my father. There was a great little sauna near by, which added to the Finnish experience. Great host and highly recommend his place.

The studio apartment was well located within a pleasant 20 minutes walk of the main market place in the centre of Helsinki, and with local shops nearby within the neighbourhood. The apartment was clean and everything was very satisfactory for our stay. Esa was very communicative throughout and left good information for us and a welcome bottle of fizz in the fridge. I'd recommend the apartment for a couple who want good value and like walking and something a bit different.

We had a wonderful stay! Esa has a very nice apartment. After we arrived he showed us and explained us everything in the apartment. And when we wrote him a text message he answerd directly. Once we needed him, he was there within 5 Minutes. It's a nice and almost quite place next to the sea und close to the center. By feet we needed about 20 Minutes.... =)

I have rented Esa's flat for friends of mine. Although I never met him in person, Esa was a great host. Communication before and during their stay was easy and straightforward, and he was really helpful. He gave them a list of places and restaurants to visit. Esa wasn't available, but his brother was very kind during the key exchange. The flat is in a residential area, 5-10 minutes walk from Hakaniemi, from where you can get all the public transport (metro, tram, buses...) I would definitely recommend Esa's flat to stay in Helsinki.

Although I never met him in person, Esa was a great host. Communication before and during my stay was easy and straightforward, and he was really helpful. The flat is in a quiet residential area just a short walk across the bridge from the city centre. You're never more than a 20-30 minute walk from most things. Apart from that, I would definitely recommend making use of the sauna in the apartment building if you're there on a Saturday evening.
