The house is in the heart of Falatados, a small traditional mountain village of Tinos. From the balcony you can see the church. As we happened to arrive on a holiday we heard beautiful orthodox prayers through the speakers of the church, which woke us up. A small shop with basic things just a minute away. A cute little café as well, which was closed though mostly due to off season times. Would have loved to have a coffee there and read. The town is all you wish for. Quiet, authentic and beautiful. Good hiking routes go out from the house. The house itself is cozy, spacious and has a beautiful view From the upper porch over the hills. If you want to go to Tinos, I would highly recommend Villa Mon :)
Excellent location for discovering the many surrounding Tinos villages in the mountains (car is essential). Falatados locals are very friendly and helpful. Choice of places to eat in the evening is limited (we visited at the end of season in September). Tinos town is a 20 minute drive away with lots of tavernas.
Villa Mon is a beautiful traditional house. We loved the view into the hills and the pleasant neighbourhood. There is a lovely café in the street with delicious homemade cake and lemonade. Also there is a little Minimarket with nice owners. To explore the island it would be good to rent a car or a scooter. We didn't meet Mike but the communication with him was easy and fast. His aunt welcomed us really warmhearted. We highly recommand Villa Mon.
Great location: in a beautiful and quiet village, with a great view from the terrace Great house: a lot of space, a nicely furnished kitchen, nice materials and linen, great terrace with view, mosquito nets everywhere, quiet. The living room is cosy, the room upstairs is very nice. The room downstairs is dark though with no view, but it has its own very nice bathroom and it is a fresh place which is good to sleep. And it makes a real second room. Great host: Mike is kind and very responsive, and helpful.
Mixalis' mom greeted me and helped me up the neighborhood stairs to the vila. She was lovely and explained the best she could given we don't speak the same language. However, she understood I needed a hair dryer! ;) The home is clean, bright and simply decorated. The view is great! Country side and located next door to the church (which is only open on Sunday). There is a lovely bathtub .. small kitchen with most all that you would need. ((A microwave would have been nice but not a necessity)). Good amount of linens etc. The town during off season is home to about 80 locals ..and they are all well above the age of 50. It's quiet and lovely. The town is traditional greek style of white and blue and a photo at every corner! The locals are great. I watched a football game with them .. and sat and drank lemoncello. They were helpful in calling a taxi for me or help if need be. There is a small market with bare necessities. A restaurant around the corner with local foods. IF you want to go to a store, atm.. more of a selection for food you need to go down the hill to Tinos. FOR ME.... the place was perfect.. I needed peace and quiet .. and it was heavenly!!! Your on top of a mountain ... and can within about 15 minutes be at a few of the local beaches. You can walk and hike for hours on end... you can wake up to cool breezes and sounds of a small town. I would love to go back .. and plan on doing so.. hopefully soon! THEY DO SAY that AUGUST is BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY ... and honestly Mixallis villa has some of the best views in the little village of Falatados!
I had a fantastic one-week stay at Mixalis' house. It is located in the loveliest area of Tinos. Many interesting footpaths are accessible from Falatados, passing through beautiful lanscapes; some of them leading to good secluded beaches. The house itself is very comfortable and has all the equipment one can need. It is spotless and decorated in a simple and tasteful way. From the small terrace, one can enjoy a scenic view and a much relaxing atmosphere. The village is easily accessible from the main town and has basic amenities (mini-market, taverns, bus connection). Mixalis is very friendly and efficient.
We simply had a great time at Mixalis house. We were the first to stay there and everything was as expected: a nice restored villa in the heart of Falatados with a wonderful view from the terrace on the hills, the vineyards and the other villages nearby. Just perfect for chilling or have a drink! Falatados is certainly not near to the sea, but it is a quiet village with good tavernas and cafés, ideal for a little retreat. And it's not far away from other nice villages where to stroll as Steni, Volax or Ktikados. For hiking lovers, this is the perfect place to discover the East side of the island, especially the Livada valley! Mixalis was very welcoming, easy-going and helpful. He picked us up from Tinos port to the house and then gave us helpful recommendations on the areas. Thank you for everything! Hope this few lines will convince people to spend time in Falatados at Mixalis' villa Mon!
