Other things to note
We would highly recommend a visit to the UK's largest open-air live show 'Kyren'. Situated only 9 miles from Angate Cottage 'Kynren an epic tale of England' was launched by Eleven Arches in 2016.

The first season saw more than 100,000 ticketholders visit Kynren at Bishop Auckland in County Durham to experience 2,000 years of British history, myth and legend.

An action-packed blockbuster performed live by a cast of more than 500, Kynren is a fast-paced production with an original script, amazing special effects, water geysers, video projections, fireworks, magnificent sets and an evocative original sound-track which you will experience in surround-sound movie-like quality.

The other properties here have an even longer history. They are said to have been converted from the former Pack Horse Inn where Edward III may have rested on returning from his unfruitful encounter with the Scots in Weardale in April 1327. Another king, Charles II, is said to have ridden his horse up the internal staircase of the house in the 17th century and it still has an impressive staircase today.
