The space
milaHiša is situated it the northern part of the old city centre of Koper. It offers comfortable sojourn for four people, two additional guest can be situated in the living room (couch into bed). milaHiša is a renovated old istrian house that dates back to 1800s. A private garden of 45sq2 is surrounded by stone walls, with stone flooring and a small table. The flooring stone was founded during works on the ground floor.

The ground floor is a living room with "stucco veneziano" walls. A quarter of the ground floor belogs to the utility room with bio-heating machine (30kw), a boiler, a washing machine and other maintenance tools.

The first floor is a dining room and a kitchen with a bar island for quick breakfasts or snacks. In a seperated room there is a small toilet. Here you can find an ironing board and an iron. The kitchen is fully equipped: ceramic plate, dishwasher, oven, hood, fridge&freezer, a modern set of ceramic dishes, an old scales, ecc...

The second floor is composed of two bedrooms and a bathroom. In one room there is a double bed, in the other a twin. Every room has its own closet.

The house has 1m thick walls. It protects quite efficiently against weather inconvenience, but in any case: you can use two separate AirConditioners. In case of heating the house has 2 seperate temperature controller for the ground (one controller) and for the upper floors (second controller).

The internet service is provided by a cable operator called Telemach. Its 24Mbps download and 1,5Mbps upload. Its not an optical line, but it does the job.

Guest access
Guests have access to entire house and garden. No sharable areas, total privacy assured. Floors are interconected with stairs. Altough they are quite large and secured with additional crossings, special care is needed if you travel with kids.

Other things to note
milaHiša was once home of local fishermans. Ground floor was used for livestocks and for saving fish nets. It was in fact found an old weight (corpomorto), which was once used as a stopper for fish nets. Today this unique piece is a part of milaHiša's garden. This part of city is nowadays a historicaly protected area. In fact the history of Koper goes back to the Ancient Greece. The town was at time known as "Aegida".

My town has a characteristic Mediterranean climate partly influenced by the continental interior. This is Koper with its mild winters and warm and dry summers. Is there anything more pleasant than standing on the seaside, embraced by a soft north-west breeze, admiring the scarlet sky on a day when the scirocco blows or watching the sea in its wild dance of waves stirred by the northern wild?

Carved grey Istrian limestone, eight squares situated at the outer edge of the town covered with a carpet of white stone, eleven other squares, remnants of an ancient city wall, narrow intertwining streets leading to the main square, boasting the largest cathedral in Slovenia - all this narrates the story of the past and of the present moment. Step by step the facades of the buildings and their interiors reveal the millennial history of Koper, once Iustinopolis, Capris, evoke the era of the Venetian Republic, the golden age of the Gothic and Renaissance - up to the present moment.
The climax of the summer in Koper - the Yellow night with the largest and longest lasting fireworks, with the greatest number of events taking place in the open air, a family holiday, a real national festivity. Let yourself go to the rhythm of the summer, enjoy the theater performances taking place within the ancient city walls, and in winter drink a toast to the coming New Year and to all the years to come. Enjoy the local handicrafts, taste the typical local dishes like the jota (a soup with pickled cabbage), the bobiči (corn soup), polenta (corn porridge), cod, the fish soup, fish specialities and the typical local wines.

The valley of the castles, with the caste of Socerb as the first one, extends below the edge of the Karst as a limes, a fortified border that once separated the territory of the Venetian Republic from the Austrian region. The path takes us then through Hrastovlje with the ancient frescoes and the world - famous Dance Macabre to the tower in Hrvoje, which marks the highest point in Istria. There the sight touches the horizon. Excursionists, riders and cyclists can discover the hidden beauties of the waterfalls, the rapids and pools of the Dragorija river - an oasis with crystal clear water.
