The Lakehouse's main floor:

The heart of The Good Fox, the main floor naturally acts as the gathering point for family and friends to refuel and recharge between days on the dock and dips in Fox Lake. There are two spacious bedrooms plus a sleeping loft on the main floor. The primary bedroom offers a Queen size bed, premium bedding, 3 piece ensuite bathroom, large windows with southwest views of the lake, and sliding door with walk out access to the balcony that runs the length of the cottage. The second bedroom has a Queen size bed, premium bedding, ample storage for your best cottage looks, and some seriously serene views of the trees and Trilliums lining the property. The second bathroom on the main floor offers a large vanity with storage, and a tub and shower combo.

The loft space is accessible by a secure timber ladder and has views that are worth the climb. There are two twin daybeds with premium bedding that kids and teens alike love sleeping in. A safety gate for the loft is available and can be easily installed to ensure safe sleeping for little ones. The space also make a great office nook for impromptu Zoom calls. The loft is equipped with vintage Technics record player, an eclectic mix of vinyl, and some pretty great reading material, so you may be hard pressed to kick out the parents when little ones want to sleep.

The main floor offers a large open concept living room with a wood burning fireplace, Samsung Frame TV complete with all your rainy day entertainment needs, vaulted ceilings, and large southwest facing windows. The dining room will comfortably seat eight and gets lots of natural light. The bright white kitchen offers breakfast bar seating for three plus room for a highchair (included), premium stainless steel appliances, and is very well stocked with all the equipment you will need to flex those culinary muscles and serve up some delicious meals. Walkout access to the deck with Napoleon BBQ and direct propane line so you never have to worry about filling up propane tanks. The deck has a large patio table that seats ten, connects to the balcony that runs the length of the cottage, and breathtaking views of Fox Lake and it's pink hued sky from the lounge chairs with coffee in hand. Coffee, did we mention The Good Fox runs on coffee? Coffee connoisseurs from advanced to novice will love the home brewing options that suit whatever your preference. Our personal fav is the Moccamaster in the kitchen (so much easier to use than it looks) but very honorable mention goes to the Breville espresso machine in The Cabin and the 'Steady Eddy' Keurig in the appliance storage cabinet for when that coffee needs to come yesterday.

The Lakehouse's walk out level:

There are two pretty stunning bedrooms on the walk out level. One bedroom has a King size bed, premium bedding, electric fireplace, plus a dedicated crib . The second bedroom has a Queen size bed, premium bedding, sizable closet, sweet views of the lake, and walk out access to the sun deck. The walk out level packs in a ton of fun and offers a rec room with a large sectional sofa, gas fireplace, Samsung Frame TV and entertainment apps, pool table with ping pong table conversion, a bar nook stocked with all the tools to mix up your favourite cocktail - BYOB. Kiddos and parents rejoice at the sight of a whole cupboard dedicated to keeping little ones busy (when there not busy exploring the outdoors) with books, toys, and games to keep them entertained.

The Cabin:

The Cabin is one of the most special spots at The Good Fox. Located on the lushly wooded west side of property, and set back about 40 feet from the Lakehouse, The Cabin makes for an escape that is secluded while still being part of the mix. With all the nostalgia of a Muskoka bunkie, without any of the "roughing it", the cabin offers vaulted white timber ceilings, King size bed, premium bedding, gas fireplace, sitting area with a full size sofa, smart TV, mini fridge, espresso maker, kettle, and a full 3 piece bathroom with dedicated and on demand hot water. Morning coffees or the evening's sun kissed sky are best enjoyed from The Cabin's private front porch with great views.

The Grounds:

The Good Fox Lakehouse and Cabin are situated on 1.26 acres and enjoys lush and private grounds. With 200 feet of southwest facing shoreline, you will have lots of space and sun to enjoy the waterfront, the large multi-tiered dock, and lakeside patio. The dock offers six Muskoka chairs in bright and sunny yellow. These yellow chairs allow for some quintessential lakeside lounging and really pop against the Muskoka backdrop in memories you capture down at the dock. The watercraft rack is conveniently located near the water and is equipped with two stand up paddle boards, seven kayaks (six adult size and one youth size), and a broad assortment of floaties and tubes. Life jackets for toddlers to adults are provided in various sizes and stored for easy access in the garage. Enjoy a soak in the hot tub under the gazebo and bistro twinkle lights in any season. The bonfire area, set on Muskoka stone, has six large Muskoka chairs in matte black and is a great spot for s'mores! Two open grassy greenspaces are the perfect spot for afternoon lawn games (Bocce, washers, ladder ball, and cornhole sets all available), to toss a ball around, picnic, or catch some midday sun. The screened in Muskoka Room offers lots of comfortable seating, a cool and shaded reprieve, or a getaway from nighttime mosquitos. The porch running the length of the cottage is the perfect spot to lounge around and pass a Muskoka afternoon.

*Please note: the watercraft and dock won't be available from November-May. Based on snow and ice conditions, there may be restricted/limited access to the waterfront.

We have a gardening/lawn/snow maintenance crew that could arrive at some point during your stay to quickly and diligently work on the grounds to keep it looking great while you enjoy your time at The Good Fox.

The Good Fox has Starlink Internet so a reliable and speedy Internet connection is ready for you. Other things to note
After booking, you will be sent a link to complete your Trip Registration Form. You will be asked to review the House Rules, and provide information about your group (names of guests and ages, number of vehicles that will be on the property, etc), and the primary guest will be asked to provide photo ID. You will also be sent a secure link to provide your credit card information for the required refundable $900 security deposit through Airbnb’s approved partner. Our goal is always to have the security deposit refunded in full to our guests. As such, we are transparent in outlining our expectations and House Rules in advance and approving guests who we feel we have a mutual understanding and trust with.

The Good Fox has a robust water purification system which allows for safe and potable drinking water. While many guests happily enjoy the drinking water with meals just as they do while brushing teeth and during showers, some guests opt to bring their own bottled water for regular consumption as rural water away from home can have the potential to disagree with our bodies no matter how well cleaned and purified. We support whatever your choice may be.

There is no public boat launch on Fox Lake, however guests may be able to schedule use of the Camp's boat launch on the south end of the lake if staying with us prior to mid June or after mid August. Please contact the hosts for more details.

As we are licensed with the Town of Huntsville, a 4% Municipal Accommodation Tax is charged on the base fee, and remitted directly to the Town of Huntsville.

We are Nic and Karly (and with our two little ones) - the family behind The Good Fox Lakehouse and Cabin in Huntsville, Muskoka (Ontario). After decades of travelling up HWY 11 and discovering the beauty of Muskoka through cottage rentals and summer camps, we have stepped out to plant our own flag in picturesque Huntsville Ontario. We fell in love with this Lakehouse and Cabin nestled between the trees on serene Fox Lake, and we hope you will too. Our aim is to create a space as welcoming as it is beautiful, to foster a greater connection with nature in daily life, and to give other families a space to create memories while discovering a love for this special piece of Canada (as we did all those years ago). We’ve been honoured that so many great people have chosen The Good Fox to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with loved ones in nature. We can’t wait to host more of you in the seasons to come. A huge thanks to all of you for visiting, for the love you’ve shown us in your reviews, and for taking such wonderful care of The Good Fox! It tells us you think it’s a pretty special place too. We hope you’ll continue to join us along in our journey and that you will come experience The Good Fox for yourselves! - Nic and Karly
