Quaint and charming top floor apartment in an historic clapboard house in the Hudson/Park neighborhood, next to Center Square. Private entrance, deck for morning coffee, steps from Plaza and the NYS Museum. Off-street parking included!
The apartment is a fully-equipped second floor apartment in a two-unit building. You have your own spacious bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom with claw foot tub, deck with private entrance, as well as off-street parking. There is one queen bed, but enough space for at least two more people with an air mattress (provided by guest).
Private entrance at back of house. There is a deck attached, with spiral stairway into the backyard which leads out to off-street parking.
One room in the apartment is off-limits (it is a private office; doors are closed). Space total is about 550 square feet.
Interaction with guests
When guests are here, I live with my partner in the first floor of the house, in the ground floor apartment. I am happy to provide advice, directions, etc. But I also allow folks plenty of privacy for your getaway or visit. During non-guest periods we do occupy the upstairs, so our books and clothes are stored there. But the apartment is prepared for your arrival, with fresh linens, soaps, basic cooking ingredients, and everything you need for morning coffee or tea!
Other things to note
Albany is a fabulous spot to base yourself for trips to the Berkshires, the Catskills, Saratoga and Cooperstown (only 75 miles away!) The artsy city of Hudson is just under an hour south of Albany. Venture further, and you can be in Boston in three hours, Montreal in 4 to 5, and the Adirondacks even faster.
But there is plenty to do right here, and the apartment offers peace and respite if you just need a different space within which to unwind. It would work well as a writing retreat.
Respectful of me, my neighbors and the house itself. No smoking indoors.
