Nestling amongst the vineyards and plum orchards of Lot et Garonne, a charming 17th Century water mill and two river side cottages. Le Pre is one of two cottages (the other being La Riviere). Set on the banks of a stream in their own 3 acre, tree lined meadow. The cottages are part of a 13 acre (4 hectare) park land plot.

The space

Nestling amongst the vineyards and plum orchards of Lot et Garonne. The river side cottages, converted from a traditional Gascon barn, stand within their own grounds of 13 acres of park land and are ideally situated to get together for those long summer evenings. The peaceful riverside setting makes it a perfect romantic get away for couples.

Guest access

An enclosed swimming pool, with under water lighting, wide steps to relax in during hot summer days and plenty of space to walk, play badminton, table tennis, Boules, sketch or just chill out.
The more energetic can enjoy free access to our Fitness room which includes a professional Precor elliptical machine, step machine, multi gym and free standing weights.
A haven of peace and tranquillity yet with all the conveniences needed for a terrific holiday.

Interaction with guests

The proprietors Carole and Dave live in the adjacent water mill. We invite guests to join us on their first night for aperitifs and take the opportunity to provide practical information to help guests make the most of their holiday. We also arrange wine tasting and offer a shuttle service to the local town of Duras.

Other things to note

We have four 'free range' birds: A duck (Garbo) and Belle - Chinese goose. They usually roam the meadow, but will keep in their pen if you prefer. If you have any phobia about birds then we do not recommend you stay.

The gite is very well equipped and the pictures of the outdoor space simply can't do it justice. It's vast and we saw deer several times. You do need a car which is common for this part of France but if you're looking for perfect peace and tranquility with a well maintained pool, garden and villa then this is for you.

The prettiest of cottages in a lovely, quiet location. Everything you could want at hand, David and Carol have literally thought of everything! Shops and restaurants within a 5min drive so although a peaceful location, it's certainly not remote but you will need a car. Very grateful to Carol who recommended the Duras night market which we enjoyed. Our kids loved the pool and even made a great friend in the little boy who was staying next door! Would love to visit again some day! :)

A lovely secluded, charming place, within easy reach of many interesting places and things to do or just relax. Our hosts very very helpful. I would suggest you use their local knowledge to explore the region and have a great time.

David and Carole couldn't have done enough for us during our stay. David was kept in prompt communication both prior to and during the stay even buying in provisions for our arrival! The gite was clean and very well equipped and the pool was clean and great for kids (lots of extra security measures) We loved Duras and our trip to the Vineyard followed by lunch (all provided by David and Carole) was superb. A great spot, lovely couple and a gite with a luxury feel.

This was the best equipped self catered accommodation we have stayed in. David and Carol make you feel welcomed and at home and have lots of local knowledge. The pool is brilliant and was well used in the very hot weather! We had a fantastic family holiday and can't recommend the place more highly!
