Location

Trimiklini, Limassol District, Cyprus

Things you might want to explore and enjoy in and around Trimiklini
* Walking/Easy trecking on Trimiklini's own new nature trail, which passes our doorstep. Duration 2 - 3 hours, restaurant en route, shortcut/return if circular walk too long,
* Walk along lovely orchards to the unique inland fish farm and fish your own meal, (fishing gear available for rent), 1h walk , 30 min by bike.
*Join us on a Sunday afternoon and find out about the Hash House Harriers who exist world-wide and is the largest (physically active) social group
* Rent-a-bike from us (currently restricted to 2 mountain bikes) and enjoy cycling in the mountains (mostly on asphalt, and various difficulties) For more information ask your host (routes, trails are mapped in the official Cycling brochures, Tourist info offices, Internet)
* Visit the Mesapotamos Monastery (also named Timiou Prodromo), and afterwards have your picnic in the nearby well-equipped picnic area under the shade of large trees. (distance half marathon: first half to monastery gentle incline (about 600 m up, return: downhill), also suitable for bicycles and car.
* Drive up the direct Troodos road to the second road sign to Platres, park the car next to the trout farm (Psilodendro), do a moderate hike to the Caledonian waterfalls, and on return either have a trout for lunch or have a stroll through Platres.
* A Trip by car or bus up to the summit (about 1900 m or just under 6000ft) is a must. (Artemis Trail: circular walk – flat, duration about 4 to 6h, take your own snacks or eat afterwards on Troodos Square where the bus stops.)
* The central location of Trimiklini on the island makes it easy to reach many other interesting destinations (Agros, Limassol – Kourium Beach, Paphos, Nicosia, Polis) but we leave this to the guests who can pick from travel guides according to their specific interests.

Trimiklini itself is a fast developing place and busy during the summer months. The picturesque fruit and vegetable stalls near the church provide a relaxed mediteranean atmosphere and are a welcome stop for tourists and locals to shop for fruit and vegetables and to relax in the adjacent taverna for a cafee cypriago, the famous frappé or a cold Keo.

I am German by nationality but live in Cyprus. In the early years of my working life I got infected by the travel virus. Luckily, travel came with my work and most of my tickets to the Far East and Middle East were paid for...and this at a time when mass tourism had not set in. In Thailand 'tourists' were the GIs on leave from the Vietnam war and in Nepal the majority of visitors were the Hippies of the 69 generation in the early seventies. My virus mutated to the next level: Short stays to exotic areas were not enough anymore (having to leave when you just warmed up..) - now the aim was to live and work there and that is what I did in the last 20 years before my retirement in the early years of the new millennium. How did we come To Cyprus? Before leaving the Arabian desert for good, we went house hunting in Malta and Cyprus - both places for T-shirt sailors. We chose Cyprus mainly because of its size. In Malta, there is no escape from the symbols of mass tourism (multi-story hotels, which you can see from everywhere, and which look depressing in off-season when they are empty). The motto for the choice of our location was to live off the beaten track with the local community. This might not be the best for our letting ambitions, but the alternative travel philosophy of Airbnb suits us well, and so far we had very nice and memorable talks with our guests

During your stay
We try to have one person always at the premisses
so we can answer your questions promptly
Usually we meet our guests at the Petrolina Petol Station in the village and guide them to the house. This is necessary due to a map error in Trimiklini road network in most navigation systems.
If you like a challenge do the following: coming up from Limassol you pass the petrol station on your left and you turn right immediately after the petrol station (corner co-op branch) and follow the road. Each time you come to a point where you have more than one choice take the option with the steeper slope up, This will bring you to your destinaton (Troodos 1 right and Troodos 2 and 3 left). Dead easy good luck.
